Lakeville North can play with Lakeville South, but South is the favorite. The Rochester schools have zero chance against South. I would pick the South JV over all the Big Nine schools.

Last year South beat North twice during the regular season, pretty handily if I remember right, but lost 5-0 in the section final.

JM could be #2 and North #3 based on record
The Big Nine coaches have seeded North lower due to record before so to lock North in at #2 is probably a stretch. If I put my tinfoil hat on I see North drops below Farmington to set up a semifinal match between the 2 Lakeville schools

I don't think there is a whole lot of difference between #3 - #9 so avoiding South means you have a decent shot to reach the semi-finals.

North doesn't stand a chacne against south this year. they teams were much closer last year and barring a miracle (which could always happen) south will represent 1AA at state.

Even though 1AA normally loses first game look to lakeville south to win a game at state. this is hands down their best team yet.

I agree with Sauce, last year North and South were much closer in talent than this year. South blew out North twice this year 7-2, and 6-1. I thought the first game might of been a fluke because Lindgren wasn't in goal for North but he was for the second game and it was still 6-1. Unless South's top line all have season ending injuries in sections.. they will walk through this section. Maybe not a top 10 team but with Kloos, Harvey and a little goaltending this team could definitely pull an upset off at state. And as of this last decade, thats all you can really ask for a team coming out of 1AA..

My Rankings

1. Lakeville South
2-10. Please god don't let any other team represent this section

Lakeville South depth wise up front is not as good as last year, granted their top line is better than it has ever been.

That being said their defense are all experienced now with none of them being first time varsity players, and the separation, as ricky ticky said, between them and north is much MUCH wider than it was last year.

Lindgren stood on his head last year in the North South game, making some incredible saves when the game was still 0 to 0. However, he also had support from some pretty good players, like Skjei and Arentz, that he just does not have this year.

It will take a great effort from Lindgren, and a very poor performance by the Lakeville south team for them to not make it to the State tournament.

This is all, of course, assuming they get a third game with north. which seems to be in question as North has tanked at the end of the year.

Interesting Side note: South and North have ended each others season each of the past 3 years: 2008: South beats North in section final 2009: North beats South in semis 2010: North upsets South in section final. Also interesting is that they have played 12 times in those 3, now 4 years, with south holding the overall series 7-4.

In no way should JM be ranked above North. I understand that North didn't come away with the best of records this year, but they beat Mayo and Century, both of whom beat JM this year.

Also, Mayo may have gotten beat by Farmington, but that was before Mayo had any sort of "identity" and was playing 7 seed caliber hockey. Mayo should end up at #4, above Farmington.

Mayo got a higher seed because they did better than JM in the Big 9 (that's the only way i see it,) and they may have lost to Farmington, but Farmington lost to Owatonna and Century this year. I think it must have been tough to seed the teams this year because of how up and down teams have been all season

Another big factor is that Mayo's strength of schedule was far greater than what JM had. And Mayo played very well against some of the top teams in the state. And I also believe being ahead of JM in the big 9 helped Mayo outway a Kiwanis game that ended 2-1 in ot. These games shouldn't be factors anyway in my opinion. Farmington played Mayo in like the 4 or 5 game of the season which doesn't hold alot of weight. The second half usually dictates what a team is all about. And the fact that Farmington lost to JM-Owatonna-and Century really hurt them.

I am really not sure how any of this matters. The two Lakeville schools will be in the final with South going to state. There is really no other way I see this thing can playing out and no disrespect but all 3 rochester schools would of been at the bottom of the south suburban this year.. ok, ok maybe above Kennedy.. With all the debate about mayo beat JM and JM beat Century but Century beat mayo, it really doesn't matter... Mayo and Century have a very outside chance of making the final beacuse Lakeville North isn't that good (but still beat both teams this year) but South is a good team and they will win this section easily. The more interesting thing to watch for is to see if Kloos can become the leading scorer in the whole state and not just AA

I think JM got the short end and it does matter - if they were #3 they would not play L'ville S until the section final. Of course, L'ville South is by far the class of this section so JM might just avoid playing them until the final instead of the semi.

Sooo why does it matter then if they lose in the semis or in the final? And thats if they would of reached the final and beaten Lakeville North, which they probably wouldn't have. I watched JM play an awful Winona team and they struggled to beat them. I hate to say it, and I am sorry to all southern mn hockey fans because I know you guys have a lot of pride.. But they just can't compete with metro teams anymore, at least not for the last 15 years. I mean, a Lakeville team has won this section 6 time out of the last 9 years, and 3 times after they split into 2 schools. And both North and South will probably meet again in the final for the 2nd year in a row. Can you imagine what an EP, Edina, Minnetonka, or Wayzata would do to this section... I doubt any of the southern teams could keep it with in 7 goals.. Just sayin

I would agree. When Rochester split into 3 schools, that hurt them alot, I think.
