Another reason the coaches must wear helmets rule is good in youth hockey. Although the story says it was unknown if he had a helmet on or not.

Sorry to hear that. Talked to Buck a couple of times at the rink ... good guy! Wish him well.

Agreed. Tartan mite coach 5 years ago had a player lose control during a drill and took his legs right out from underneath him. Never saw it coming as the kid hit him from behind. He hit the back of his head and was knocked out cold. Needed an ambulance and was off the ice for weeks. Could've been much worse.

Old school guys complain about coaches requiring helmets, but it could've the Tartan guy a trip to the hospital and a couple weeks of headaches.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Coach Kochevar.

A few years ago Minnesota Hockey made youth hockey coaches wear helments and I was against it a 100%. After wearing my helment now for a few years I was a 100% wrong.
Man up and wear the helment. More than just your family cares about you. Make it a must in high school hockey.

Agreed - I felt the same way and now I make a point of wearing mine down with my rink rat at the outdoor park. I have been taken out too many times from behind - especially sharing ice. Speedy recovery coach!!
