What are some up and coming organizations and why?

What are some up and coming organizations and why do you think that? These can be high-school or youth programs

I think Coon Rapid's youth hockey program is on the verge of making a comeback. Comeback to what, I don't know, we've been down so long no one can remember the glory days, but a comeback nonetheless.
Our mite numbers are up this year and we have a great group of families with young kids that love to play the game. We have a new rink that will be opening up this fall and people are excited about that.
Sounds like we will be getting a new association president and with him hopefully some fresh ideas. It also sounds like quite a few of the kids will be skating in summer programs this year. A new summer AAA team is going to practice at Cook arena this summer.
I guess time will tell, but I'm cautiously optomistic that Coon Rapid's might be turning it around.

A couple more from District 10.
St. Francis has some very good talent at the Squirt and Mite levels coming up. The A Squirt team has a very good record and only one or two losses against District opponents. Their Mites are also looking pretty good. Benik was a big part of giving these kids a passion for Hockey.
North Branch has also been impressive at the Squirt level. They have a very large rostered B-1 team that has a very good record. Probably would be at the very top of B-1 or had a pretty decent A team if they rostered 11-13 like most other associations they play against. Their Mites are very talented. Could of easily had one of the best, or the best, A Mite teams in District 10. Instead, North Branch divided them into two B teams by age. The result has been two B teams with no competition.
Good to see a few programs taking a turn for the better.

Andover "A" has a 1st and 2nd (loss to Edina) place in tourneys this year
Andover "B1" black has a 1st, 2nd (loss to Edina), and a 3rd
Andover "B1" gold has a 1st, 2nd (loss to Edina, any one else seeing a pattern here?), and a 4th
I know alot of these squirt kids from choice / AAA / camps... solid group of gamers. However, I know nothing of any of their other programs except what I read on this forum.

Minneapolis Storm
4 Bantam teams
6 PeeWee teams
7 Squirt teams
12 Girls teams
20 Mite teams
They had 2-3 teams per level and almost no girls program 5-6 years ago. I'll guess that no one has experienced the same growth over the last 4 years.

Not from Edina ... they've knocked me out of state tourney when I was much younger and much smaller around the waist. On top of that, they've dismantled my youngest's team twice this year. I'm not loving on Edina, just respecting their talent.
Quit looking for things to complain about.

STMA squirt A and PWA are both
very strong, but drastic drop off to "B" levels ... IM(sometimes)HO.

Wait you wrote farmington twice who is the second team?

I've noticed that Farmington has been sending some good youth teams out lately. If only they would have built that second sheet of ice, they really need it.

No Joke, STMA could use a second sheet of ice, 465 kids in a hockey program, one sheet of ice, going to practice in St. Cloud, Princeton, it's joke but you have to deal with it.....

Andover looks to be pretty solid at the girls level for the next 5-6 years. With the new H.S. coach working to develop the youth and the depth, they could actually contend in the next few years. For the boys, that is a different story. They seem to have one class every now and then (last years A Peewee and A Bantam, this years A Squirts) that is decent, but overall they will be lucky to be above .500 with the talent, new/parent coaching. NWSC is a tough conference and with lackluster development/coaching/communication/systems etc. the boys program is going to have a tough road for awhile. So I wouldn't say they are up and coming quite yet.....

Not to mention the fact that they are opening a new arena next year (which I just found out this past weekend). That can't hurt the cause either. From what I understand, the plan is to open this new arena, which has a single sheet of indoor ice, and demolish Cook Arena. Is that correct? If so, how where they able to justify that? Cook isn't the greatest arena around but it's not terrible either.

The old building is falling apart. the ground base under the ice seems to be the biggest issue, not to mention the roof and other infrastructure issues. It is suppose to be the first steps toward a community center.

I've been impressed with the talent and depth of the Chaska/Chanhassen program at the Squirt level for a couple of years now. They field strong, capable teams.

STMA B's are doing fine. Pee Wee B1 is currently ranked 12th in the state. Squirt A's are very good. There are also a handful of mites that are playing all over the metro this summer in various select tournaments. Second sheet of ice is a MUST!

Knight58 you must be from the new board in STMA because you didn't mention their PWA as being pretty good. That group of PW's is the best athlete in the entire association whether its hockey,baseball or soccer.

Sounds like things aren't all roses up in st micheal. I'm guessing knight must be a parent of a b player and puck fan a parent of a peewee a....
From an outsider seems like there are a solid couple of groups from stma, starting with 2nd year peewees down to 2nd year squirts.
