This is gonna be the biggest game of the regular season for both teams. I see DE coming out of this one on top. GR has been playing 2nd and 3rd tier teams the last couple of weeks and I see them having a rude awakening Thurs. nght.

Well...after splitting with the top two in AA, you'll notice ER isn't even ranked above DE. Has to be referring to playing those single A teams like Marshall and Mahtomedi (sp?)...

Seriously, SLP wasn't exactly rough, and they didn't light it up against LN. Oh wait, that goalie stood on his head to stop about 50 that night to keep LN in it.

Guess that's why they have to play the game, eh?

EP comes to DE next week so I would say no to the biggest game argument.

Except the EP/DE game has no effect on seedings for sections - while the GR/DE game will most likely decide who gets the #1 seed in 7AA.

The Eden Prairie game is huge but like you said, the game against GR is the biggest hands down. This game is the only meeting between GR and DE and yes this game should determine the top two seeds in 7AA.

This will probably be the biggest regular season game in 7AA in a few years--it's been a little while since the section had two top 10 teams, and a little while longer since they were teams that are (sort of) rivals. The winner is just about a lock for the top seed in the section, whatever that may be worth--since 2002, the top seed has only won the section 2 out of 9 times.

The two teams are also surprisingly similar on paper. Both have received contributions from a handful of talented forwards coming off last year's Bantam A squads, though the most impressive sophomore performers to date have probably been defensemen. Despite that, their leading scorers are upperclassmen who have a little more experience. Both teams have senior goaltenders with good reputations and have veteran coaches, though there have been some questions about each team's defense.

If we're looking for something to separate the two, I think it may be the quality of East's third line--I think the Hounds are a bit deeper. While I'm optimistic about this one, it could certainly go either way. Wish I could be there. Is a radio station that streams online going to pick this one up?

karl, you will be able to catch this game from the same computer that processes the weekly AA rankings. Fox Sports North will stream the game on Thursday.

When two quality teams like this meet in a big game anything can happen. Since the game is a home game for East I think that will give them the edge in this one. Two solid teams playing hard, it just dont get any better than that in high school hockey. The key to Rapids success will be minimizing penalties at all costs. If Rapids can stay out of penalty box they have a chance.

Duluth East 4-1, i believe DE has one of the top three lines in the state with Olson, Toninato, and Randolph.

Read it again... I was being sarcastic to the effect that only Edina and EP are ranked above East. Hence saying that ER is NOT ranked above East. Are you with me now?

Have a great night, and good luck Thursday evening.

BINGO!

You just can't beat the really good teams when you expend all your energy on the PK.

Agreed EHS, I agree... (not sarcastic)

As for the game, GR just got their tails whipped by Herm and now 2 days later they have to play a 3rd ranked (LPH current rankings) Duluth East... in the dogs house!

Sorry Indians... wait excuse me, Thunderhanks... Its not your day/week. I hope the slide doesn't continue; section seeding/play is approaching! 8-[

Might have to watchthe 3rd period for this one after work. Why is there no admission after the second intermission? Always kinda wondered that. When alot of the times that's the besttime to watch

1-1 First Intermission. Towards the end of the period East picked up their physical play, notably Trever Olson, who had several big hits.

Couple minutes left in the 3rd, Olson off for East, after East killed off a 5-minute major. Bad time to be taking penalties, boys. 2-1 East.
