Saturday is probably the biggest rivalry game in the state behind Falls and Fort Frances. Any predictions?

It is a big rivalry. I don't think it's the second biggest rivalry in the state though. Hibbing by two

Virginia needs to come out strong and stay strong to win this one.
Virginia must also be able to stop Johnson and Decenzo, as well as stay out of the box. This will be a great game to watch.

Virginia by 1

Hibbing coming off a huge 9-2 win over Albert Lea gives them a ton of momentum for this game. Hibbing's defense will be to much for Hendrickson.

Virginia's defense won't be able to stop Anderson, Johnson (leading state in points)and DeCenzo(second in state in points).

Hibbing wins 4-1. Adam Johnson hat trick.

Hibbing & Virginia came down to play a couple games with Mayo & Albert Lea. I was able to watch the two Mayo games, and here is my take:

Hibbing was the better team. The have tremendous skaters with and without the puck, constant movement, crash the net with abandon, I think the net was pushed off its moorings over 12 times in the Mayo end... Mayo goalie played fantastic, this game could have been an 8-10 goal game for Hibbing... Weak spot is their goalie. Mayo, to their credit put the puck in the net on opportunity, but the goals were weak... Next night put 9 on Albert lea I saw, impressive... Johnson and DeCenzo are fun to watch, but that is not all they have... Anderson kid looked good as well... Hibbing 6-5 in OT, fun game...

Virginia was bigger, and pounded Mayo with the body. Judnick and Hendrickson are good players. Judnick is huge, as are some of the other D, wide bodies... Virginia got stronger as the game went on... Mayo had the backup goalie play in this one, he did well, but...
Virginia 6-4 over Mayo...

Hibbing with the constant motion offense, and creative offensive players, I see Hibbing at Home by 3-4...

I really enjoyed watching Hibbing, the neutral & O-zone attack was relentless... It should be a fun one in the IRC... :D

virginia body's johnson they'll win. If they let him skate all over the place they'll take penalties and lose

Hibbing must stay out of the penalty box. virginia doesn't take penalties as a rule. Hendrickson is very good at picking off passes in the offensive zone. Should be a very good game. hibbing needs to score first at home.

Virginia needs to contain Johnson on the big ice, and stay out of the box. This game will be decided on special teams and goaltending.

I was going to stay disappeared from this site as I began to get annoyed with the constant bickering between Hibbing/Virginia/Falls fans. But...this rivalry is just too good to not give a take and predicition.

The matchup I am really excited to see is Virginia's defense and how they handle Decenzo,Anderson,Johnson line. This line absolutely controls play every time their on the ice and if the Devils shut this line down they will win. I don't think you can shut them down completely but you have to control them and minimize the damage.

Also Millbridge v. Tromp. You cannot win with poor goaltending. A soft goal can change the momentum in any game. If both goalies are on it will be an absolute thriller.
This is a rivalry and both teams will come to play. Im taking Hibbing by 2 as they feed off the energy of their home crowd and top line.

You've obiviously never been to a Falls vs. Fort game. Hibbing vs. Virginia is wild too. Save the talk about Hill and Wbl. Pretty sure the whole town isnt at the game!

Lol, lets see we got:
Hill WBL
Roseau Warroad
Edina Tonka
Edina EP
DE CEC
and that's in like 5 seconds off the top of my head. It's fine but don't push it.

still more fans at a virginia hibbing game then all of those games. People from the cities don't know rivalries, they just throw out roseau warroad to sound smart but they really have no clue. East cloquet is a great one though andis probably bigger than virginia hibbing

Those city rinks have minimal seating on one side of the rink. The Hibbing Memorial Arena is one of the larger arena's in the state capacity wise and is 100% full for Hibbing v. Virginia. The atmosphere at this rivalry is unbelievable. Those others are great but atmosphere and crowd size are not comparable to Hibbing v. Virginia.

I care

Virginia vs. Hibbing is good as well as Roseau vs. Warroad but... If you haven’t seen a Falls vs. Fort Frances game you ain’t seen ****. Its chants of USA and Ca Na DA, burbot on the ice, but most of all, its kids absolutely playing their guts out.

But anyway, Hibbing by 2. I see no answer from Virginia for that Johnson kid.

I think virginia might actually be the only team with an answer for johnson. Wes judnick is probably the best defenseman he will have faced this year, that matchup is key

should be a great match up like always. unless you know anything about the passion that the iron range has for hockey dont try and say its not a big rivalry. keep your cake eating comments to yourself.

Hibbing 4-2 with an open netter

Should be a great game. Any one hear if Hendrickson will play?
