Nope, They have yet to play Wayzata, Farmington or Minnetonka, but have had some good wins over Rosemount (twice) Edina (1), EP (1), Roseville and Woodbury. Looking forward to the stretch in D6 should be a tough road but so far the kids have done what it takes to win. They have handled adversity with some injuries to key players missing a game or two and having only one goalie for the first part of the season.

I looked at the GR website and they are beating up on the Range teams ut have lost to the quality teams from the cities. Rosemount 7-4-, Andover 5-4, Centennial 6-2 and Elk River 5-1. They did beat Blaine early on 4-3 so I am sure that they are decent.
Good luck and I will buy you a beer at Maddogs pizza between games. Best Pie in Northern MN.

Peewee kids change during the season and grow. That changes the character of the team they play on. The Star of the North tourney is a good one this year because the teams entered are matched in such a way that one can get a sense of where the character of each team is as a result of this tourney.
The first game pits Grand Rapids against Forest Lake. Grand Rapids had a good trip to the cities and pushed all the teams they played. They beat a tough Blaine team 4-3, but they lost to Elk River 5-1, Centennial 6-2, and Andover 5-4. Blaine made it to the championship round at Duluth, beating Wayzata along the way. Andover took a tough 7-0 loss to Moorhead Black last weekend.
Forest Lake holds wins over Stillwater and White Bear Lake in District 2. Stillwater had a good tourney in Duluth last weekend and could have won their pool if they had beaten Eden Prairie in the last game. The Rangers play a tough defensive game. This game is a toss-up. Grand Rapids has the edge because it’s their tourney on home ice, but Forest Lake ekes out a win.
Burnsville and Little Falls meet in the other game in the bracket and the Flyers will be definite underdogs. The Blaze win.
Hibbing and Hopkins meet in the first game of the lower bracket. Hopkins is still struggling this year but are starting to come together as a team (the Royals beat Mound/Westonka 3-2 last week; Mound/Westonka took the Moorhead consolation title on the weekend). Hibbing lost to Grand Rapids last week 8-1 and to East Grand Forks 6-1. The edge here goes to Hopkins.
Duluth East really has struggled this season and last week in the Spirit they were beaten by Rosemount 8-1, Osseo/Maple Grove 5-1 and the Mpls/Storm 4-2. Anoka has proven to be a tough team. Last week, the Tornadoes beat Champlin Park 4-3 in D10 play and have previously won the Spring Lake Park tourney. They usually play tough in tourneys. Anoka comes into this game on the upside, Duluth East on the down side. This is the toughest game to call in the first round games. Anoka wins.
Forest Lake and Burnsville would then play in the first semifinal. If the Blaze play as they have against Rosemount a month ago, they win easy. If the Blaze play as they did against Shakopee a week ago, they could lose or at best sneak out a win. Hard to imagine the Blaze losing this one. Burnsville wins.
In the second semifinal, Anoka would beat Hopkins. Hopkins is improving, but Anoka at this point would be too tough for the Royals.
The Championship finals would match the Blaze and Anoka. These two teams have similar grinding kind of style of play. Again it is the Blaze’s tourney to lose and it is hard to believe they could lose to Anoka, but I am going out on the limb and predict the Tornadoes win.

Should be a great tournament. How long will Burnsville stay undefeated? The longer they remain rated #1 and undefeated the bigger the target gets. They will be getting everybodies A games. Should be a great test for there coaching staff and players.
