This match up of these two teams in blue has become a rivalry since the two turned their programs around and started playing every year in the 2004-2005 season. This year, as well as last, they also meet in the quarterfinals of the Schwan's Cup.

Minnetonka is dominating the head to head match up with a 4-2-1 record since they started meeting up 6 years ago with a +7, 28-21, goals differential in the Skippers favor. All that being said, St Thomas is 2-0-1 at home in that span with only a +4 goal differential.

With a pair of wins this season, the Cadets can even up the series and get on the winner's side of Schwan's Cup. Can they start that Tuesday at home?

I'll take tonka in a barn burner 6-5 OT. This should be a great game to watch.

I have the young gun skippers coming out ahead in this one, 4-3 in another gritty game.

Minnetonka's D was horrible against hibbing. I take cadets. 6 3

I say the Cadets take this one in easy fashion winning 5-1

The Skips' goalie is going to have a huge problem if SPA's icecrew doesn't fix the huge chunk out of the ice in the visitor's crease near the post by tomorrow nite.

SPA usually has the Best Ice In The State. Not this last weekend. Ken Yackel's sheet was better.

There was a chilean miner at the bottom of it. That's how deep it is.

Tonka in a nail biter 4-3 in OT. Tonka has to learn to stay out of the box. I believe that STA had 2 PPG.

STA looked terrible in 2nd period. 9 shots on goal through two periods. STA woke up for 3rd period and tied up the game with about one minute left. Third period was good hockey. Schwan Cup should be interesting.

Not at all trying to make excuses (the video feed wasn't good enough that I could see exactly what happened) but does anyone know what happened with the OT goal? The announcers were talking about how odd it was; it was called off, then seconds later another official skated over, called it a goal and that was that.

The ref by the goal line said no goal, then the ref up by the blue line came in an over ruled him.

Regardless of the two questionable goal calls, that is not why STA lost and lets hope they make the necessary adjustments before they meet again at the swans cup.

That is exactly what happened. One referree, no goal. Seconds later other ref skated in and called it a goal. Tonka's third goal was also allowed where video shows it hitting cross bar. Hate to lose by bad calls, but give Tonka credit.

STA goalies are also inexperienced at Varsity level.

Still a great game.

I am a huge supporter of "there were 50 other minutes during the game you could've done something to win the game, but this game went into OT. It was going to be a one goal game or a tie. How can the ref who is 30 ft away overturn a call the ref right next to play made?

I'm not defending the call. All I can say is that in a game there are times where officials should/do work together to try an make the correct call. Was the ref. vision by the goal line obstructed and did he not see the puck? Did the ref. by the blue have a better view point from on top and did he clearly see the puck go pass the goal line? I'm going to assume this was the case.

2 of tonka's goals were questionable but but the refs called a lot of weak penalties on the skippers including one with 2 minutes left in the game when STA tied it up

Yea, right, weak call on the Mtka player with the head check that split open the STA players head. (guess you missed that fact as the trainer was stiching him up immediatly afterwards). Too bad the STA player wasn't on the ice a little longer after the hit, as it could have been a 5 min. penality.

The penalties for both sides where obvious infractions and it was pretty clear to see the tripping, hooking, high sticks, elbows, head checks, boarding and slashing calls against both teams. The officating crew did a good job.

High Flyer I'm not sure which game you were watching. First of all it was a brutal call on mtka at the end of the game. The sta player initiated the contact and could have easily got a charging call. The mtka player was a D in the N Zone for a regroup when he dumped the puck off the boards and took the hit while standing still. What's he supposed to let the kid take his head off?

Immediately afterwards...??

If you remember correctly the sta player who supposedly got hurt was in the penalty box thinking he got the call on him. Only after a couple minutes of confusion they took the sta player out of the box and the tonka kid in.

I believe it was 5 consecutive penalty's on mtka in a 6 to 7 min span in the first period.

I would rate the officials as poor in this game.
