As of right now, and it has been this way for some time, only 12 of the 27 members of the board are elected by youth hockey members. I believe 9 are elected by the board itself. the other six aare from the high school (2), the refs (1), adults (2) and juniors (1).
I proposed a few years ago that the 9 VP's a nd president should be eleted by the members or the associations representing them. It gets talked aobut and then forgotten.
Any opinions????

I think there should be some distinction and division as interests are different at the different levels of MN Hockey. Voters should be the ones directly involved at that particular level. How we develop players and the game at the youth level should be handled by those involved at the youth level.
There are some interesting reasons to slow evolution and I think that's what happens when you have voters that aren't directly involved in the issues of the various levels.

Yes the voting needs to reflect what all members of Mn Hockey need, not the largest enrollment having the smaller voting representatives.
Solution #1. Since the Mn Hockey board does not vote on the Senior, Referee, Womens, Juniors, Boys or Girls High school rules or by-laws, then those representatives should not vote on items that directly affect the youth and girls of Mn Hockey nor should they be able to stop any District Director from bringing any item before the board for discussion, this would eliminate 6 voting members for voting against the Youth or Girls hockey. If it would affect their organizations then they should be able to vote. This would give the District Directors a majority.
Solution #2 Would be easier yet would probably not happen. Since most District's already have an Assistant District Director change the by-laws to make the Assistant District Director a voting member that way each District could have 2 votes and would also prevent a District Director doing one thing at the State meeting and bring back something different to the Associations. This would severely dent the good old boy network which is slowly shrinking. By the way this was sent to the rules committee where the chairman buried it.
Solution #3 In reality this will never happen, change the voting numbers to allow the District Directors to vote the number of registered players and coaches in their District as they already do for the USA Hockey/Minnesota District elections.
As I have preached the need for all to attend the meetings not just the Sunday meeting but the weekend committee meetings and communicate with them. With Elliott's leadership the one site state tournament site was stopped because the people let the board hear it loud and clear.
Thank you Elliott 70 for clearing up that I am not TT.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.

Although not a busy thread for information...there are individuals here offering alternative means to actively get involved towards change within MN Hock. I'm curious as to how fed up people are with the status quo of how rules and regulations are administered within Minnesota hockey across our great state...does anyone feel this has relevance or just happy paying "union" dues and getting nothing in return?? Entitlement states of America?...
