Minnesota Hockey leagues

It is interesting to me that Minnesota Hockey has The Metro league for kids that are not playing high school hockey. And this year they have formed the new Rec. league for kids that don't want to play association hockey. So it looks like if they want to form a league for whatever reason, all they have to do is get enough bobbing heads to agree, and viola a new league.
So why then when we propose a league for the upper level kids do we get "The sky is falling ... The sky is falling" from the protectors of the status Quo ?? Also we are told time and time again that forming a new tier 1 league is beyond the ability of Minnesota Hockey to do without the chance of ruining the program.. I wonder what would happen if the Rec program was flooded with high level players. Would we then have to change the rules.
There just seems to be something unequal about the whole set-up. If fact it kinda stinks...

I applaud the new leagues. If you read the description you would see that there IS a reason for these. Gives kids that don't have anywhere else to go ( not playing HS ) or different level commitment ( less $$$, less hours and no checking ) someplace to continue playing a game they enjoy. Kinda ironic you complain about MN being status quo then rip them when they add new leagues to promote the game and fill a niche for players who may not be served.

The metro league is intended to address the retention problem. This is highlighted in the ADM initiative.
Why would anyone criticize any attempt to keep these kids involved in hockey and out of trouble?
At one time we had 11+ bantam teams and 5 or more midget teams. Now my association has no Jr. Gold and I think our bantams might have 8 teams. Too bad we can't make something like this in our area.

Really ? Then again maybe i've soured on his message because its everywhere ... kinda like a kid whining for something. And I'm not even apposed to teir I.
