Aparently he got checked into the boards and possibly broke/sprained his arm.

Agreed with Ruski, these things happen. He'll recover.

Reading the article it appears he may have been carrying the puck through the neutral zone.
Marshall's left arm got jammed into the boards during the hit at center ice
I think Mr Marshall will quickly realize that carries that worked even in the State A tournament will be a little tougher when skating with the pro prospects.
I am sure he will recover and keep going fine. Live and learn, learn and live.

Maybe he should also by pass College and go right to the Wings!!! They don't care if your 6'6" or 5' nothing. They are going to finish there checks at that level. Everyone including Ben are in such a hurry to get to there spot. Take your time Ben!!

It is a prospect camp for draftees. I'm not sure what you response is supposed to mean given that fact. All draftees go through it for the various teams. It doesn't mean anybody is rushing anything.

I think he meant that you shouldn't be trying to stand out so much that you're trying coast to coast dangles, and getting rocked with your head down.

No idea if he was a dangling, but one may assume since it is reported as a center ice check on a defensemen.
Not a direct comment on Marshall, but many, many a damn good HS player has found that D1 was about all they could muster.
It is amazing to see kids thats are unstoppable in HS fall into 3rd and 4th line positions - legs unable to keep pace, falling, caught head down ... it is a big step up for all and only those that continue to have a strong work ethic ... move beyond.
Those that jump into the NHL at 18 or 19 are an absolute oddity of nature (in a good way).

not sure how to interpret this thread - not a whole lot of support for one of your own.
I am pretty sure none of you were present at the scrimmage, since it was a closed session (most of the prospect camps are).
the following assessment doesn't seem to indicate he was dangling or going end to end.
"Holland also said that defenseman Ben Marshall, the Wings’ seventh-round draft pick last month, suffered an apparent broken wrist. The Minnesota native was injured while making a neutral zone pass along the boards in the first period of Monday morning’s scrimmage at City Arena"
I am guessing he learned a lot this past week, but it was while in Detroit skating, not from reading the posts on this thread.

Honestly, I saw the article and thought I'd pass on the info here. Shame on me for doing so I guess. I just thought there would be some folks interested in hearing about it.

Sounds like a freak accident to me. Star Tribune Prep Sports article -
"I guess I have ligaments that are torn off some bones, and I might have fractured my growth plate," Marshall said in a statement released by the Red Wings.
Marshall said he's sure he'll need surgery on his left arm, but he won't know the full extent of his injury until doctors in Minnesota examine him.
"I kind of dumped [the puck] in and turned around, and I got a little shove from behind and I tried to stop myself," Marshall said. "My stick got caught along the boards there, and it kind of just turned on me."

Don't feel bad for posting this.
Freak accident, sure ... but this is the type of scenarios and injuries that happened more often to those who played against Marshall and other D1 prospects in HS ...
like I said earlier (AND NOT pointing to Marshall in paticular). Each step up is sooo much faster. Getting the body and legs to do what came naturally is now that much tougher. Assume there were some darn good Canadian and European prospects on the ice that day.
Hope he mends well and matures to the next level quickly. The Gophers need him and need him to dominate the ice - not just fill another line.
