Having one boy player and one girl player, I've got to give equal opportunity to the girls. Although it's early, who do you think are some of the favorites next season and why?

Warroad. Shy? A great 2010 recruiting class.

Champ will come from the west metro this year:

Minnetonka- Strong senior goalie, solid D, very fast, and they have Ramsey.

Edina- Elite level goalie and she is having a great off season with a solid team in front of her plus solid coaching.

BSM- Will be a good young team but will have to get by Tonka.

Hopkins- Will not be deep but solid D corp may be able to carry them in sections (my bias showing through).

EP - Minus the older Lacombe but seems to be taking steps forward every year, could help to play against classic lake leading into sections.

It's an odd-numbered year so it's Tony Scheid's turn for a state championship.

IMHO

I have to agree, although I wish that west metro team would be in the Northwest Suburban, I have a feeling a team like Minnetonka or BSM are just going to be tough to beat.

Or, how about back to back for Roseville? Regroup and Reload?

A - WARROAD

A- Princeton. haha, maybe not, but they should be decent. were pretty good last year and only lost 1 senior. Having a strong goalie in Lindsey Hibbard will help.

Pretty amazing that some would pick Roseville to win it all next year considering what they will be losing--7 seniors including 4 who will be playing D1 hockey. I assumed it would be a rebuilding year for the Raiders. They return a very good goaltending tandem and a couple NDP players but is that enough? It says a lot about the respect that the program has built up that some would think they are able to reload so easily.

Roseville is always tough. They lost a very talented class of skaters, but they return a number of very good players. I think there will be great parity in the SEC this year. Whoever makes it through that tough section will have a good shot at the state title ...

SEC should be very tough but I would have to pick Mounds View as the favorite with White bear, Roseville and Stillwater as strong contenders.

Section 4AA should be tough as usual with Hill-Murray, White Bear, Stillwater and Roseville all contending. My preseason pick would be Hill-Murray with all the offense they return and strong goal tending. Defense might not be too strong for them though.

Correct me if I'm wrong, which is often, but if memory serves correct, HM graduated 2 of their top 3 scorers (who did 99.5% of their scoring) and they also graduated their top defenseman.
This leads me to wonder if they will have the so-called offensive firepower of which you claim. I know Brandt is very talented, but in this day and age of girls hockey, one player can't carry a squad.

Correction, I believe Hill only lost one of their top scorers to graduation…never the matter… even you Hansbro you could score 20 goals playing on a line with the Brandt’s. I will agree defense could be an issue for them …however scoring will not. For that reason (and Mckeever) I would give them the slight nod. Roseville will reload…but repeat…comon. The Raider along with the Ponies and Bears will all be very competitive (but all three will lack scoring). As far as the SEC…yes watch out for the Mustangs.

Not sure what you mean by Hill-Murray not returning alot of scoring. Stats show Hill is returning about 77 goals and losing 44. The next nearest team in the section is Stillwater with 50 returning. Roseville only returns 26 goals and loses 110.

I think they will be right there in the mix. Young team last year with quality players.

I agree. They were by far the team that improved the most from the start of last year to the end of last year.
