Why too early, it was already brought up last season.

Isn't everything on here a bunch of bs anyway?

ER you've never won it in the past and have used up your eligiblity, that's why I dropped you from the list. If not you're the odds on favorite in my book!

Eligible what?

Makes sense synergy. I forgot about that stupid eligibility rule...

Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

Synergy-

Last I heard Jared Stewart will be leaving after the football season to play in the USHL (Des Moines?). Not sure if something has changed. If not i'd say those could be the favorites that you originally posted, possibly even in that order...

With Bariball in that mix I was just wondering if he's eligible seeing as he is doing a before and after. Are there any stupid rules that may keep him out.

In my opinion it is way to early to be discussing this. Injuries, juniors and team chemistry have not even been put into the equation and people are professing possible Mr. Hockey candidates. GEESH! Lets give it tell Christmas break and visit this topic and then see where you are at with it. I think the hype is great but let’s give it some time. Lots of kids play hockey in this state and every year there are a few surprises!

-The Slinger

Maybe we shouldnt talk about hockey at all until the season starts.
Play another sport if ya dont got what it takes to DangleMcFangle.

maybe it's just me..but i think it's way too early to decide who's even going to be a good choice for this. I mean..Mitch Ryan wasn't a huge star in the beginning of last year & he sure proved himself and made a good candidate. Who knows what'll happen this year?

Don't forget that, while it is not written this way, the "Mr. Hockey" award is usually based on career statistics. This means anyone with a legitimate shot at the award has already gotten their name out there...

yes, Barriball is eligible. The before and after guys remain candidates. Several of last year's candidates had to come home from their USHL teams for the banquet.

class of 06

Is it just me or does it seem like this years senior class is down on talent. Doesnt seem to be a whole lot of "superstars" this year as there has been in the past. I'm sure Juniors has something to do with that.

That is because so many really good players are on the Development team, in the USHL, or WHL from this senior class. Some names of great players that have left or chose to never play HS hockey are Mueller, Johnson, Carmen, Flynn, Lucia, Whers, Okposo, McBain, Palm, Mosey, and Dowzek. Add those names to the great players playing HS hockey this year such as Fischer, Forney, Bariball and you have yourself an amazing senior class. The 88 birth year in MN might be the best single year from one state ever. Possibly up to seven first round NHL picks.

Where's Dowzak

You mentioned Dowzak. Didn't he get drafted by Lincoln or Omaha? I can't find his name on any USHL rosters. Just curious as to where he is now.. Anybody??

Yes, the current senior class has some very good players. And there are some '88s that are still juniors that are very good. You may be correct in stating that this may be the best birth year for hockey for a long time.

My pick would be Mike Forney - Right now the most prized recruit in Minnesota.

Traditionally Gopher recruits have won the award, with a few recent exceptions recently. I feel that the best player will be Forney, but will that fact that he is from a small class A school hurt him? At some point he will make a verbal commitment, most likely to the Gophers or the Sioux. Already committed Gopher recruits Fischer and Barribal round out my top 3. Fischer will be helped by logging a ton of ice time and possibly leading an overall lesser talented team to an upset of Barribal's immensely talented team in the section finals.
