Brandon Mileski is the new coach at Coon Rapids.
Can we get our hopes up or will the talent continue to defect to Blaine?
KFAN mileski?

He is perfect for Coon Rapids as he has coached at Cooper. Equal level team except the Hawks jerseys are much nicer, especially their road jersey.
Does he still work at KFAN? If so you can hear about Coon Rapids hockey every day in the winter.
It would be nice to see the Cardinals be competitive and I hope he can be there a long time.

^ No need to get that sarcastic, but yeah Coon Rapids has been just plain bad for too long. They have far more hockey potential than Cooper ever will have. Hopefully the kids from that good Pee Wee A team a season ago will stay on, but I guess Aus is a great coach to play for as far as I understand it.

I wonder if those standouts on that PeeWee A team are the kids that switched over to Blaine? The paper said some kids went to Blaine but they didn't say who.

Huh???
Top 2 forwards and goalie are 3 of the 4. Top defensman is staying and you can find a great article on him in the Star Tribune regarding baseball. He wanted to stay at CR to play with his friends (Take note) friends!!!!! It will be fun to watch him go in the corner with one of his EX-friends that may be leaving. 2 out of the 4 leaving are the ones that you have been reading about all last year swearing and stick slaming and all that other fun stuff. 2 other kids are good kids, but both of their dads coached them through the youth ranks. Kind of iroic isn't it.....

Top 2 forwards? Depending on what your definition is of a top forward. Team play is that considered an asset of a all around/top forward? Respect for coaches/teammates? I can go on from what I have read on here from this past winter, but won't. Not only did one of these players stay back to play with there FRIENDS there were a few more that did also that had considered leaving, but they to wanted to be with there FRIENDS. It's too bad when the parents are dictating there son's future and not taking in consideration of all the FUN they would be having with the FRIENDS they have now in there funnest years ahead of them. I commend the players that did stay to be with there FRIENDS they grew up playing with. That's called COMMITMENT

How does the feeder program look? Are there any strong teams coming up through the association that might bolster the HS program in the next couple of years?
If not will the coach stick around?
Anyone know why the last coach left? I had the chance to see them play a couple of times last year and they struggled.

From what I have seen in the past few years playing against them the only age group that will bolster the Coon Rapids program will be the "A" Bantams of this past season. They had great success as Squirts and Peewee's. Seems like this past season though as Bantams there weren't many positive comments posted on this Forum towards there team. The coaching staff ran into a couple of players that had attitude issues. Overall though they did pretty well. After this bunch of players not sure how deep they are. I know they did not field an "A" Squirt team so I would assume talent/numbers are not there. Looking from the outside in I would suspect the new coach has some knowledge about the background of the CR Association, otherwise you are right he may not stick around. Just from the rumor mill over the past couple of years CR's Varsity record was not to impressive under the old coach and he was given an ultimatum????

He does still work at KFAN. He produces Common's show every weekday from 12-3. And if you ever listened to Common you would know that every time his team gets brought up on the air, he pretty much refuses to talk about them.

I am trying to understand. Do you hockey people have nothing better to do than rip on everyone else's kids? Why don't you worry about your own kid? You don't know why these kids are leaving. Stop making assumptions. If you want to know why they are ask them or their parents. As far as the parents dictating where their kids should go isn't always the case. Sometimes the kid wants to leave and the parent wants them to stay. These "bad" kids you don't know what is going on with them. 2 of the kids had attitude issues. What about what happens behind the scenes that noone sees or they brush under the rug? Maybe that is why they had "attitude" issues. You talk about this being a team sport but all i see is people only having negative things to say about everyone else and it is someone else's fault for the loss. CR needs to start encouraging everyone, the parents, and the kids. CR needs to be there for the wins and losses and take them together and stop putting blame on one or 2 kids or even the coach. Start being positive!

We have been down this road already on a different thread it's the parenting issue. Let's get back on the topic Coon Rapids gets new High School coach

parenting issue?? what does that mean? and you get to say what you want where you want? Hey, I am all excited about a new coach coming to CR. I am just tired of all the negative things people say when they don't even know what they are talking about.

Just trying to help you understand that it's not always the players fault. You don't have to believe anything I say, but I have been watching these kids for sometime now .......Young coach coming in hopefully he can possess the energy these kids can pick up on. Your right positive attitude can create positive results which there hasn't been on this team for a few years now. What's different from these returning players vs. the last few years is they all believe in hard/intense practices which was lacking with the outgoing coach. If, Mileski can provide such practices it will reflect in game situations with the understanding he has systems in place for breakouts, PP, short handed etc.
