Looking at the 95's it seems this must be Minnesota's first official AA ( or even A ) tourney? LMAO

The 98's and 00's look pretty good. AAA, AA, A Whatever the kids have a fun, well run, week-end of hockey to look forward to.

What teams would have to be in it to be a AAA rated team fire and ice??

That's a little harsh. Last year the 95 Magicians and Edge were pretty good; if I remember correctly, the two reebok teams weren't bad. There are fewer opportunities for kids at that age; I think it's great that they have an 8 team tourney at that level. Who are the CMH Kodiaks; they seem to have most age levels in local tourneys this year.

I think it would do wonders for Minnesota summer hockey if we would stop comparing everything to the Blades. I think it's great that talented hockey players tend to gravitate to that program, and that they represent the state well in Michigan, Illinois, Canada, etc., however, there are more than 20 kids that play hockey in this state, and most kids that want to skate a couple days a week and play in 3 or 4 tournaments, get that chance -- and their parents get a "reasonable" cost with very little travel (unless they choose to take a trip to Canada, Duluth, and in a couple cases Chicago, Detroit, or St Louis). They aren't forced to get on a plane from Texas to Seattle to play with their team based out of Los Angeles, and more importantly, they aren't forced to sit out the summer because they aren't quite good enough to make a Tier I team. How in the world do we continue to find fault in that?

I guess I must, because I don't recall ever blasting a kid, a parent, a coach, a team, or a program for calling themselves AAA by accusing them of not being deserving of the label. I don't recall ever calling summer hockey watered down because we allow kids to play. Please feel free to refresh my memory.

In fairness to IM, this is a post of his from last year:

I think it's fabulous that a whole bunch of kids want to play hockey in the summer time. I think it's fabulous that a whole bunch of organizations want to offer them that opportunity.

In a market driven system, the educated consumer will want the best value (what you get (product and place) for what you're willing and able to pay (price)). The best value will attain and retain the best players. In the same way, the best tournaments will attain and retain the best teams.

The irony is that sticking a fork in the spokes of that open system will likely result in the opposite of the desired effect.

Seems pretty consistent and spot on. :x

Thanks, Dmom. I knew you had a crush on me.

p.s. I'm keeping an eye on a little FL 02 playing on a 01 team this summer. I'm hoping he'll be the ace up my sleeve 8-10 years from now when 'somebody' from the near north squawks about an entire varsity roster that never laced 'em up during the summer.

Shhhhh, don't tell the "others" about my little crush.

I'm not nearly as far away from center as I seem, it's simply for the sake of a good argument. My kids have played at just about every level of AAA there is, and they'll continue to, if that's what they want, but....I'm not silly enough to believe that just because someone charges a lot it means my kids are going to become superstars. And I'm not going to sit in the stands of a blowout game and tell my kids to hit somebody, if more AAA teams are giving more parents a chance to act like idiots than they are a bad idea

Like oldgoalie, we look for development, but will always be swayed by a good coach and friendships-the kid's and me and Mr. D's. (Oh and when you have more than one to drive around, geography becomes a pretty big factor as well. )

Oh, and BTW, the FL's most recent representative on the U15s never played any AAA.

There will always be people that will pay someone that charges too much - slap a different logo on the grill of a Toyota and call it a Lexus.

There will always be parents that act like idiots. Scientists have not yet found a connection between the idiot gene and the only average athletic ability gene; as far as they can tell, superb athletes can be born of idiot parents, as well.

Has D2 had tryouts yet? Did he move on?

I just think some of them aren't bad people, but they write a big ol' check and expect jr. to than somehow, magically, be better and than they realize that they wrote the check and nothing has changed. Jr. still doesn't have any edges, he still can't transition without doing a 50 foot circle. The majority of the 40 teams do offer value, and you are right, I have no responsibility to warn people from teams that do not-even if I knew for sure which ones they were. It's a lot like telling a friend that their husband is cheating on them, somehow you end up the hated one.

The FL team sent four kids to D2 tryouts. Two have played AAA and two have not--at all. The one moving on never played AAA at all, but he's a big kid with great hands, vision, plenty of speed, and a good shot. He's a baseball player, whose FL team has made it to state the last few years. Sorry

Let that be a lesson to anyone thinking of ratting us out to DDad.

No reason to be sorry. I've always assumed those kids are out there. I just don't like when posters refer generally to those kids without actually knowing of one (or even if one actually exists). It may be the kid OG85 is high on; I hope he does well.

He's exactly the same kid. Good kid, good family, great hockey skills, exactly the kind of kid you want good things to happen for. I would think he will see a lot of varsity time with his older brother next year, so his parents can finally be in the same place at the same time.

It's awfully quiet considering games start tonight. I'll stir the pot a little: I'll take Ice Edge, whomever they are, to shock the world at the 97 and 98 levels.

Well it was not the TRUE 95 Edge team as Breakaways and Blade players were on that team.
