Just curious where these kids go to high school. Both youth progams seem to be doing alot better and have pretty good numbers of players throughout their programs. Is it one of those things where after youth, they all get split up into different high schools? How do they decide? Thanks in advance for any help

Don't know a ton about Highland, but I know many of the Mpls Park kids spread to the wind to schools like Blake, Breck and St. Louis Park.

Over the years Highland kids have been found at Cretin.

Can't speak for Saint Paul, but here is where Minneapolis players go (over the last four years):

Public:
Minneapolis East (South, Roosevelt, Edison)
Minneapolis West (SW, Washburn, North, Henry)

Private:
Holy Angels
Breck
Blake
Benilde
Providence
Saint Paul Saints
Minnehaha

Open Enrolled:
Bloomington Jefferson
Edina
Bloomington Kennedy

We probably feed more different programs than any association in the state!

I guess I kind of assumed many of them went Private. I was curious for what their boundaries are as to what Public School they are supposed to attend. If they would stick together as unit to go to their public school, they would put Minneapolis/St. Paul schools back on the map? That's why I was wondering how many different high schools they get split into as far as Public options? Thanks for the help so far. After watching the high school tourney, they made me curious after the in between period special on inner city schools not having the tradition as some in the past.

I don't think he did. I don't think there are any Minneapolis resident kids attending St. Louis Park public schools.

Yes a few, Most of the A bantams this year will attend BSM. Now I am ONLY talking about the A team not the rest of the teams.

Oversight on my part. I took the original question as what is coming out of Minneapolis and what is coming out of Highland. In rereading the question it was asked of Minneapolis Park, so absolutely, Saint Louis Park should be added to the list.

Highland kids have alot of options:

Highland - Dont know if they even have a program
Cretin
Hill Murray
St. Thomas
SPA
Minnehaha Academy

Keep in mind that many of these kids begin private/parochial school in kindergarten. In south Minneapolis, there are kids going to 6 different catholic schools and will likely continue to do so, ending up at one of the schools swprez mentioned. A few might end up at a public high school but not many.

I would imagine it's the same in St. Paul.

Anyone know how many kids on the AHA/Cretin etc rosters came from catholic elementary schools vs. how many transferred from public schools?

I'm sure many kids will begin to choose their hometown high school (Highland) now that they are starting their own varsity hockey team next year, they only played jv the past two years but their success has led them to move up. this might threaten many of the area private schools.
