Was this conference over rated? First ER gets blown out by DE. Now Blaine loses to AV at state. For all the talk about how tough this conference was, and how deep they were, I don't think they were as strong as everyone proclaimed.

Was thinking about that after the Apple Valley-Blaine game.

I still think it's a good conference, and you still have to consider Blaine a top ten team despite the loss to the Eagles, but in the end things didn't pan out like those propping their conference thought they would.

I felt it was the deepest conference in the state all year. Not much of a showing in the post season, a coule of losses in a single elimination tournament makes it easy to doubt but there was a real nice group of teams in the nwsc.

Andover, Blaine, Centennial, Elk River, Maple Grove, and Osseo were all above average but not amazing. That's about it.

I would like to see how many teams from that conference would make at least the section finals. That is hard to do since most play in the same section, but out of the two section they are in they had 3 teams in the section finals. As far as Blaine goes they have had solid teams the last five years, but nothing to really compete for a championship in those years at state.
I would not say they were weak just because of the AV game since AV only gave up two goals against Edina and have allowed the fewest goals in the tourney.
