This is a topic which I often think about-since I have a kid who is a goalie....
1.If the goalie lets in the very first shot - do you pull them..?
2. If you have 2 goalies that are playing pretty well during the year and rotating every other game - do you keep the same rotation during playoffs?
3. If 2 out of the first 3 goals are good goals but the last one one is weak - do you pull them..?
4. If he is getting "shelled" do you them him in there to ride out the storm..
It would be interesting to hear what some of you think about this subject

1. No, not sure why you would even consider pulling him/her after first shot
2. Yes you would keep the same rotation during playoffs, only if one or the other starts to struggle would you change that rotation.
3. Depends on how weak the goalie is, the score of the game, and the scenario ie. (playoffs). If he/she has been pretty consistant throughout most games i would say no. Now if he/she is the type that after a few goals are scored, craps the bed than yes, it's possible to pull him/her.
4. I believe that sometimes you do let them ride out the storm. First point is that sometimes the goalie is not getting any help and might not be 100% his/her fault. Second point is they need to understand what its like to totally fail at something, as in life there will come a time where it feels like you just let in 10 goals in 5 minutes. You get to see true character and how they respond to this.
Now if they are caught in a storm every single game they play in than you might want to take a look at how you are coaching them or other options you can do to help the goalie and the team.

NO, of course not.

YES, unless some huge reason came up such as one goalie shut a team out during the season and the other gave up five - then change the rotation. But play them both.
3. If 2 out of the first 3 goals are good goals but the last one one is weak - do you pull them..?
MAYBE, depends some what on the kid's attitude. Some give up after an easy goal, some can take it... you have to know the kids.
4. If he is getting "shelled" do you them him in there to ride out the storm..
AGAIN, maybe. You have to know the kid.

Parental obligation. If that is his/her passion why/how would you tell them they can't. My kid loves it. He has been drawing pictures of goalies since he was 4 or 5, if I told him he had to play a different position he would be devastated.
