Just last year we saw Meadow Creek Christian have a hockey team, but we have also seen programs around the state get smaller or go away. It would be great to see next programs build up, co-oped teams able to "un-co-op" and such so more kids have an opportunity to play. Personally, I would love to see 7 competitive AA Mpls teams in the future.

Are there youth programs out there that are currently not feeding to their city's high school, any youth programs that are going to start soon, co-ops that are growing out of a co-op, new ice arenas being built in areas without hockey, or any other circumstance that would bring hockey to areas it hasn't been in before?

C'mon. You know youth hockey isn't about feeding one highschool. they also have to provide for the privates.

Zimmerman HS has grown quite a bit since opening. I'm wondering if they'll ever gt to the point that they can break off from Elk River.

I highly doubt it. They may break off from ER, but they'd have to co-op with someone else. Just not a huge hockey community up there. No youth program, no rink...

Eden Hall. Private school who had a problem with recruiting in the past, but I think they have gotten past it and should field a varsity program in the coming years.

You think the way Belle Plaine continues to grow they will have a program soon, youth. I'm not sure where their kids play now?

The reality is that a many communities have multiple cities attached to school districts. For example, many schools in the SEC like Roseville, White Bear Lake and Mounds View and Stillwater are called Area High Schools.

White Bear Lake Area High School draws from White Bear Lake, White Bear Township, Hugo and Vadnais Heights. Mounds View Area has the likes of Arden Hills, Shoreview, parts of Vadnais Heights, Mounds View, and North Oaks.

The way that Hugo has/is growing, and the money out in that area, I could see that community within the next 10 years look into its own school district, and maybe drag parts of Lino Lakes and Centerville into it, or maybe even have the boundaries split into the Forest Lake School district. As Hugo continues to grow, and WBL Area HS approaching 2,400 students, at some point, it's possible WBL might not be able to handle more growth.

There are many parents in WBL who have stated that the new FLake ice arena is within 5 minutes of their homes, and it would be more convenient to play in FLake.

Body Shots, if you're out there, since you are as high finance as high finance can be, I'd be curious on your thoughts about the Hugo propsects... You pay more attention than me about the area. I only care where I can find the beer, pizza, beer, and women joints are. And OH, beer.

I could see a private high school in Hugo before a public one.

THAT would bug me....

They just built the Oneka Elementary school a few years ago. I wouldn't be surprised if they added a High School in the future. Although, I think the growth has slowed down recently with the economic issues experienced lately. If the High School doesn't materialize, they can always be home schooled at Running Aces!

Well, you can count out St. Bernards ever emerging from their St. Paul Saints co-op.

While not a hockey power currently, and probably ever, they've been able to build up other good athletic teams including a fantastic baseball team that went to the class A state tournament last year (I believe).

It's just sad that they had to close the school down. It provided an alternative to the larger Catholic schools of Hill and Cretin.
