I was asked by one of the readers of my blog to explore the question, "Should Minneapolis associations ban together to form a Coop Team for youth hockey?" and if so, what might that team look like (i.e. associations, numbers, feasibility)

As its hard for me to blog about something I have little information on, I am looking for your insight.

What do you all think?

They have. Washburn and Southwest Youth Hockey Assocations have combined/co-op'd to form the only traveling hockey association in Minneapolis. There are also multiple recreational hockey opportunities in Minneapolis. You might visit the Web site for some information and then I also suggest connecting with the Association President to discuss.

Yes, WAHA and SWHA have come together under the Storm arrangement with Saint Louis Park.

Combined WAHA and SWHA numbers are 654, with 150 mighty mites and 160 upper level mites.

At this point in time, the plan is to continue playing with St. Louis Park at the Bantam and Peewee levels in District 3 exclusively for the 2010-2011 as District 1 will be going away next year.

This year Saint Louis Park ran their own squirts and the Minneapolis co-op ran our own squirts. 10-11 season hasn't been discussed yet and won't be until after the season.
