Cretin vs WOODBURY (2-18-10 @ BIELENBERG)

If the Raiders win, they claim a share of the Suburban East crown with Woodbury (and Forest Lake, if the Rangers defeat Mounds View) who has already clinched a tie for the title. A win or a tie gives the Royals the outright championship - their third consecutive.
This is like last season when Woodbury only needed a tie over White Bear in the conference finale to win the SEC ahead of Cretin (last year, the Royals defeated White Bear 3-2 in O.T.).

Totally. Whoever wins this game will get the second seed in the 3AA sections. IMO whoever loses will be the 4 seed.

i was just wondering people's opinions on the woodbury cdh. i think they will go 2 and 3 in the section but woodbury has already beat cdh once. a split in the season series and a tie of the conference title gives cdh the 2 seed?

I believe cretin will get the second seed if they win because the win would be fresh in the minds of the coaches during the seeding meeting.

Yeah, the second game in a series of two is usually given a little more weight. Also, CDH's nonconference achievements are a little more impressive, especially with that win over Edina.

The second game in a series would have more weight, especially if they are far apart. The second game is going to reflect the teams abilities later in the season, one team may have surpassed another in skill.

The ONLY chance the loser gets the #4 seed is if AV beats both Eagan and EP their last 2 games. Highly unlikely. They already have 9 losses. The loser of Woodbury/Cretin will have 8 losses. AV also has zero quality victories. The seedings will be what Karl posted in this weeks rankings:
1. Eagan
2. CDH/Woodbury winner
3. CDH/Wbry loser
4. Apple Valley

Ok then let me rephrase. If woodbury loses they will get the fourth seed. Woodbury lost a conference and section game against park early and almost blew a huge lead against park recently. They also were defeated by edina. If cretin loses they will get the third seed because they had key wins against benilde and edina.

The outright title won't be easy. Cretin will come out flying. Not only for a share of the conference championship, but, also for seeding purposes in 3AA.

No chance the coaches will vote Woodbury 4th since they will have tied for the title even if they lose and AV is going to finish 5th or 6th in their conference. Woodbury is also 10-1-1 their last 12 while AV is 6-6. The seeds will be what you see above.

Personally, I wouldn't want the #1 seed in 3AA. The last few years, including when it was 2AA, the top seed has never made it to the State Tournament.

i would rather play the 4th seeded av then woodbury or cretin in the semis though.
i think its an interesting game because the chances are pretty good these two teams will be playing again about a week later. and the third matchup would be much bigger than the previous two. these two hockey programs have become very familiar with one another over the past 4 or 5 years.

wbmd..... I think the Woodbury victory over WBL was a statement game. The Royals only had about 20 shots on goal, but they took advantage of their opportunities, and Ness looks like he's focused to be the difference maker. I expect Ness to shut down CDH, and roll into the section championship game.

Not going to matter much who is seeded 2 or 3.

I take Woodbury 4-2. Woodbury has all the motivation they need to win this game. Cretin is a well coached disciplined team but Woodbury has a little more depth. Even if Cretin can shut down Woodbury's top line, look for the third line to do the damage and win the game. Good SEC battle.

How can Flake, with MV win, share w/CDH and Woodbury ? I thought that CDH had the point thing on FLake? Sorry, don't really know how this works...

Man, why are you so down on the squad?
Royals 3
Raiders 1
Ness with 28 saves

Not down on them at all. Just saying that Cretin will come out flying and that it could turn into a Raider victory. Really, it's a toss-up.
I would much rather see a Woodbury victory.
