Did anyone see great improvement in your childs overall speed and quickness? Would you recommend it?

Speed Acadamy is a good camp for increasing stick handling skills and edge control and elevating your childs overall fitness (due to the intensity of the program), but increasing speed? MM could do a better job on teaching proper technique and posture. Your child will get faster with age and physical maturity, along with proper technique. It's hard to teach speed.Fazer172 wrote:Did anyone see great improvement in your childs overall speed and quickness? Would you recommend it?
I agree. My son did it last summer and while his fitness and stickhandling improved, I saw no speed increase. He had the same form problems after as before.High Off The Glass wrote:Speed Acadamy is a good camp for increasing stick handling skills and edge control and elevating your childs overall fitness (due to the intensity of the program), but increasing speed? I firmly believe overall speed & quickness is a god given gift, you either have it or you don't. Age also will change this but all the money in the world is not going to make your hockey player increase their speed & quickness to the extent anyone typically hopes for when spending money on programs like this.Fazer172 wrote:Did anyone see great improvement in your childs overall speed and quickness? Two different programs. My boy has done both mulitple times. I would go back to both. In todays economy, if your looking for more bang for your buck I would look to MM. If you looking for more individualized instruction look to Pro-edge.Pinky wrote:If you want to see your kids speed improve and overall skating than I would suggest you take them to this program, imo the best skating camp in the state
