Ahhh, so now it's been done. Somebody took it upon themselves to create a level 'above and beyond' AAA. I, for one, and I won't be the only one, will immediately contact the GM of our AAA club and insist we change the name of our teams to "Elite". I'll be damned if my kid is going to be skating on a 2nd rate team this summer.

Kind of like open and invite levels, for boys AAA, which the girls haven't had. Curious who the elite teams are and if there can be more than 1 or 2 in the state. The International Cup for girls has tiered some of their levels and attempted to put stronger teams in Tier 1 and the suspected weaker teams in Tier 2.

To clarify, this distinction is common at the Girl's level - the primary, but not the only, reason being due to some AAA teams are made up of first-year players and others have rosters dominated by second year players even though they play in the same level (i.e. U12).
The intent of the AAA and Elite distinction is improve the chances of leveling the playing field so each team gets an opportunity to have quality games throughout the weekend.
This distinction is certainly not intended to minimize the abilities of any team or program.
