Is Brainerd a contender this year?

Only two AA teams have less losses than Brainerd; Tonka and Hill Murray. That being said, Hill Murray doesn't exactly play to toughest AA schedule. They got beat by Moorhead in Moorhead 6-0. The result of the 2nd game may be different. I suspect, if they win out, they'll be the #1 seed in 8AA. If they do not and beat either of Moorhead or Roseau, probably the #2 seed and if they lose to both the #3.
So, they are are great contender to be the #3 seed in section 8AA and this Friday will tell if they will be a contender to be more.

Moorhead will be the number 1 seed.
Roseau will be number 2 unless Brainerd beats them
Brainerd will be #3
Bemidji will be #4
St Cloud Tech will be #5

But IF you want to throw more IF's into it...
Brainerd loses to Roso and Moorhead
and Bemidji beats Roso and Moorhead....
Then it would be
Moorhead
Roso
Bemidji
Brainerd....

Fat chance, Elliott. Bemidji is a very average team! They don't have a prayer getting the #3 seed.
The Brainerd team playing now is not the same team that got beat by Moorhead 6-0. Since then, they haven't had a loss and have been playing very consistent. if they show they can compete with Roseau and Moorhead, the section tourney will be very interesting!

If Bemidji is very average then Brainerd is not much more than average.

Doesn't that make Da Barnyard Worriorz above average
Elliott, you buddy Bader came outta da woodwork last night and actually showed up for the game

Bader is joining the bandwagon...
winning fills the barn...
and an above average team in Brainerd gets people excited.

Your Bemidji bias is clouding your judgement. From where I'm looking if 11-8 is average, then 16-2 is certainly above average.

The 'barnyard worriors' schedule is not filled with big games but they are beating teams they used to lose to in frustrating fashion. beat the rams and spuds than the team is a contender and worth watching down the stretch. It would be cool to see them at excel 'spoiling the party' for the east side private school.

Hats off to Jim Archibald, he's got this team believing they can win every time they step on the ice

Nice record, but

6 average teams, 5 below average teams and 4 poor teams.
I would like to see them do well, but I don't see it based on what they have done....
Again, more than the previous few years, but....
the Roso & Moorhead game will tell...

Have the warriors play a team within 50 miles of the cities and then we'll see if they can contend. There record is a direct result of not playing ONE metro team. The few losses they have are a 6-0 running timer vs. Moorhead and a decent class A team in Alexandria. You can only hide for another month.

Hey 'homer' who invited you to the party? Heard that noise before, your team is OUT OF IT!
The worriorz of the barnyard city would roll any cupcake out of the metro (Como Park, SP Johnson, Buffalo, Richfield, etc.) line em up genius!!

You know what?? I would like nothing more than to rip on Brainerd. But the fact remains that they are up from previous years. Moorhead is not having a wonderful season, strong yes, not unbelievable. Roseau is not having an unbeatable season. Being that Brainerd seems much improved and Roseau and Moorhead look nothing like unbeatable, yes I could see Brainerd contending to go to the X-Cell Centre in March. So the Central Lakes Conference doesn't have any dazzling teams, so they don't have a lot of top notch teams this year.....so. Its not like it's an overly weak conference either. It's not like they're playing Morris, Red Lake Falls, Sauk Centre and Wadena twice a year.......
PS
Yeah, let's all go down to the Twin Cities where real hockey is played....dream on....

As puppet master and "Chairman of the Bored" of the Shady Bunch it is rest assured Brainerd will be seeded higher than Bemidji in Section 8AA. In fact, the committee is so sure of this ... it has been said high on the hill that Videoscout himself will buy elliott70 dinner and drinks at Iven's on the Bay if this does not happen. In fact, the scout is making this bet "risk free" to the northern nieghbor.

Not only is Brainerd up from previous years, there was talk last year about Brainerd High School not fielding a boys ice hockey team again. Something about budget cuts and so forth, and I am reminded that one of their star players at the time transferred to a Duluth school just in case. So, let's hear it for NON-Metro schools who keep this sport interesting.
Ditto for Greenway High School; they were down for the count at the beginning of the season and they have come back to sport a respectable 7-8 record at this time.
Let's stop putting down smaller schools, eh?

Brainerd HS has about 2000 students so I wouldn't say we're ripping on the small schools, eh?
Good for Greenway and their respectable 7-8 record. Other than that 8-0 loss recently to Lake of The Woods they seem to really have things on track.

Let's go....

The metro teams could not take the Archibald Canadian style of physical hockey that the Worriorz play, one of the reasons they were dropped from the Schwans Cup. They get to beat up on Spring Lake Park the last game of the year, so triple B, by your reasoning that should make them legit
Archie won't let this team hide, they'll come and play. Maybe they might not win but whoever they play will know they've been in a physical battle

I don't see the Spring Lake Park (the cities finest) game on the schedule? Maybe the schedule is off and that's probably the only reason us city folk won't crowd the doors trying to get a peek at this rough and tumble canadian style team.
