Except that if you follow the provided link they are ranked #1.nehockey8 wrote:cm's talent has been going down rapidly the last few years bc of the amount of kids playing juniors or prep.. no longer are the best kids in the state going there.. They are not the best team in the state they have won most of their games by one goal against weak teams and have two losses and a tie..There are are plenty of teams worthy of the number one spot and i don't expect them to win states this year.. They have been ranked number 1 nationally many times however. Cm and holy angels played in 2002 the yr AHA won states and were trounced by cm who did not win states that yr in MA so it goes both ways. [/code]

We don't mind sending one of our lower-ranked teams out east so that you can feel good about yourselves with an occasional win.
I believe that they trounced Mt. St. Charles Academy of Rhode Island 9-2 the night before.
Okay, I've had my jollies. No hard feelings.
Your post teaked my curiosity, so I did a google search and found a site for Massachusetts high school hockey (http://www.masshshockey.com). Very interesting. Massachusetts divides their high schools into four divisions as such:
Division 1 : 53 schools
Division 2 : 45 schools
Division 3 : 82 schools
Division 3A : 29 schools
Thus, there are 209 high schools playing ice hockey. Cool! Massachusetts certainly helps the USA produce ice hockey talent.
I noticed that Catholic Memorial is ranked #1 overall.

In last week's poll, the Academy of Holy Angels was only ranked 15th in Minnesota's AA division. I would argue that they are down a bit this year, and might not be as good as several A schools (St. Thomas Academy, Warroad, Breck, Hermantown, among others) and, thus, probably not even in the Top 20 of all Minnesota schools.
They were even beaten by White Bear Lake (unranked), a perennial under-achieving AA school, about whose discussions serve as comic relief on these Minnesota forums.
Anyway, thanks for posting. I like to hear about Eastern ice hockey.
I'd like to see some those great teams come out here to Minnesota and see how they stand up.Gordon Bombay08 wrote:I would love to see minnetonka or edina go out east and destroy those teams
With Minnesota's student sections, they wouldn't stand a chance!defense wrote:I'd like to see some those great teams come out here to Minnesota and see how they stand up.Gordon Bombay08 wrote:I would love to see minnetonka or edina go out east and destroy those teams
I don't think it hurts them, but it does not help them.blueblood wrote:Does the trip out east help our hurt AHA's seeding for regionals?
Z - your thoughts?
Yes, agreed. To see them stand up without using the boards, you know, like beginning skaters.defense wrote:I'd like to see some those great teams come out here to Minnesota and see how they stand up.Gordon Bombay08 wrote:I would love to see minnetonka or edina go out east and destroy those teams
I noticed that as well...ACTUALFORMERPLAYER wrote:I do hope the rest of you realize that nehockey8 and gopherhockey89 are the same kid. They both keep calling the state tourney States.
I thought there was a MSHSL rule with travel limitations for all schools, 600 miles round trips for out of state competition??blueblood wrote:Does the trip out east help our hurt AHA's seeding for regionals?
Not WCHA, not hockey? Are you kidding me?watchingfromthestands wrote:so i heard about this....
Let me explain some of the 1 thing I do know about, and a couple uncofirmed notes from other sources (Ive had a couple people tell me the same about point 2/3 - but havent had the time to investigate yet) ....
1 - all HS teams and programs (all sports) were given the opportunity to file a waiver and have out of state trips still approved. I havent heard of one being told no - since most of these trips are planned more than a year in advance - the MSHSL issued one year waivers for any school - as long as you filed the petition.
2 - I dont know how much stock to put into this...but i believe that program in MA is the most dominant one around -maybe comparible to our own SSM - many people send there players there because its the "only place to go if you want to play college hockey"... I'll take that with a grain of salt coming from one of my Boston coworkers from MA. However, he did say, a couple of his former collegaues did move to Boston from different NE areas so their kids could attend and play at that school.
3 - rumor has it - not confirmed, but that roster has 8 Division 1 commits on the team currently - no WCHA schools - only america east, etc... if it aint WCHA - is it really hockey???![]()

again the only one that I know for certain is number 1 - any other takers??
yes...it was sarcasm.... but a little Midwest elitest tint to it....starmvp wrote:Not WCHA, not hockey? Are you kidding me?watchingfromthestands wrote:so i heard about this....

AHA ties Edina in Edina, Edina gets #1 and AHA gets #4? If that happens, things are really messed up, especially if AHA finishes the year with 2 or less more losses while Jefferson and Burnsville lose/tie much lower ranked Lake teams....Zamman wrote: Because they have a terrible conference I think it hurts more.
Right now as it stands the section will go down as this:
Edina
Jefferson
Burnsville
AHA
and the rest....
I see it like this:HShockeywatcher wrote:AHA ties Edina in Edina, Edina gets #1 and AHA gets #4?
