It was an ugly game. The Jags came out slow and never could quite recover. They turned it on in the third but couldn't seem to score.(Faust hit two solid pipes in the third.) Goaltending was the key factor, Lakeville's goalie had a pretty good but Jefferson's goalie did not look good at all. Hopefully they can get back on track with a win over a good Burnsville squad next week. Oh and the sixth goal was an empty netter by the way.

First of all most Lake Conference teams have one line to compete against most lake conference teams. It is the 2nd and 3rd line depth, or maybe a 1st line PP that will determine a game. Eagan has a very young group of players. Jefferson has an older members that didn't get it done. That's it. Truefully, it is all about section play. Who cares what happens in Conference play. It is all about stringing three games at section play to get to the State.

Well first of all it DOES mean SOMETHING to win your conference. Second of all these game are very telling of what kind of team you are. It appears, Jefferson is lacking something at this time. Perhaps goaltending, I dont know. I love how everytime a good team loses people like to say "oh they played a bad game", what about the fact that the team that won isnt as bad as people think and may have actually outplayed the the supposedly better team. Anyway, Kudos to LVN its a BIG win for them.

Eagan should be ranked #2 and Jefferson should be ranked 14th - we already know.
6 goals is way too many - obviously, defense and goaltending needs to improve for this team to go anywhere. The Jags should be embarrassed losing 2 games at home already.

I was at the game, and I thought Jefferson outplayed them, but Lakeville looked a lot better than I thought they would. Shots reported 40-24 Jefferson. Goaltending was the difference, clearly. Jefferson lacks solid goaltending this year, 3 of LN's goals were really weak. I thought Herbert looked really good, but he can't make up for the weak goals that were given up. Goaltending could be the difference in the Jag's season.

You will find that out on 1-28-2010 when the Wildcats go to Lakeville North

Wow. Losses to Eagan, LVN and Centenniel (so). Jefferson is a good team, but they are missing something.

No one, not even me, has said Jefferson is not good. Heck, they beat Wayzata this week. They are good, but quite obviously have a hole in their team.
Good win for Lakeville

With the exception of a few teams, on any given night any team can win the in the lake. We could very likely see a Lakeville team at state.

I would say your're right. It's not out of the question that we could see 4 Lake conference teams at state this year. Granted Jefferson would have to beat Edina and Holy A's, and EP would have to beat Minnetonka and Wayzata. 1AA Lakeville So, 2AA Jefferson, 3AA Eagan, 6AA EP.

Just like the Missota used to do in AAAA football

It's simple, guys. Jefferson is a good team, but we expect too much of them. They're going to lose games this year they shouldn't because, in my opinion, a lack of coaching and a weak goalie. Also, they only have two outstanding defenseman, Faust and Pauluk. That's going to hurt them.
With that being said, they still have a shot at going to state. When they stay out of the box and play with intensity, they are downright scary.

How many "outstanding" defenseman should a team have exactly? At this point you can only blame 1 game on goaltending. They gotta be more physical and take care of their own end.

Jefferson is a good, but the different players year in and out - win by themselves.......you're jumping all over the place, Bud - think about what you're saying.

If you're banging your head against the wall - you obviously didn't understand the sarcasm. So let me simplifly it for you.....the guy is saying they have a shot at state; however they only have 2 solid defensemen. They are scary and are a good team. We will see as the season plays out. Perhaps, his identity would reveal what he is really saying, if you understand that comment.

I knew I would raise some conversation with the 4 Lake teams at state. The key word in all of that is in 4 sections there are Lake conference teams that are contenders - not just dark horses. I think we can all agree that Lakeville So, Jefferson, EP, and Eagan are all contenders for section titles.

I think he was trying to say that the talent level at defense really drops off after those two, offensively and defensively.
Just a look at stats:
Pauluk 2g 23a
Faust 7g 16 a
J Perpich 1g 6a
Bentz 1a
N Perpich 1a

Let's dissect your idiotic response to my post. This should be fun.
Is it too hard to believe that they have a shot at state with only two solid defenseman? I never said, "Because of their great defense, they're going to state." I still stand by my assessment that their defense is lacking but that doesn't mean I don't think they can go to state. So, it was you (not me) who made the correlation there. What I was saying was that if they play their best in sections they can compete with anybody.
Next. Yes, they can be scary when they play their best (9-2 against Centennial) and they can be simply a good team (2-2 against Centennial). Point proven, again.
So, what I was saying is this: "When Jefferson is on, they are scary. However, we expect them to win way too much because they won't play their best every game. They will lose games this year, and it will be because of an assortment of things. But, they still have a shot at state because of my aforementioned opinion that when they do play on their game they are scary."
Explain what you don't get about what I am saying, please.

I would give Centennial more credit for changing the difference between the 2 games than Jefferson's lack thereof. Centennial has proven they can beat anybody and they've also proven they can lose to anybody. Last check, they are ranked in the top 15, so I don't get why it's such a horrific turn of events that they tied them.
I like how you neatly changed the coaching, defense, and goaltending excuses to an "assortment of different things" the 2nd time around. Every team that isn't ranked #1 in the state right now has had periods of inconsistency. Let's hope they get them ironed out before sections.
