This rivalry is one of the best. It may be the best rivalry in the North. These two don't like each other and every game is high intensity and physical. This is no doubt classic IRC.

Hibbing always comes to play. They get stronger as the year goes on.You can bet this will be a physical game.Virginia better be ready. No love lost between these two. Can't wait.

Hibbing will prevail! they looked really good after beating albert lea today 7-0. they are getting scoring from all lines. tromp looked real good but if he can play like how he played against Marshall they should win....

Hibbing has been playing pretty good and it looks like they will be starting tromp based on the way he played today. I think Hibbing has a pretty good chance as long as tromp doesnt blow it like he has been known to do.

you can't blame those couple games on tromp. He didn't have much defense there.

hibbings got the edge, seems like virginia cant get anything going the last few weeks, but if the line that virginia has 10,7,3 stays , they should start competing better.

I'm pretty sure that the way the lines were the third period on friday and for todays game will be the new lines. They seemed to work very well together for not practicing together as a line.

oh and Ryno44... the why is hibbing not ranked? was locked before I could respond. At least Virginia didn't lose 5 consecutive section final games. That would suck. We went to state in '05 and '09 and Marshall went every year in between...

Actually, Hermantown went to state from section 7A in 2006 and 2007. Duluth Marshall only went in 2008 as the 7A representative as they were in section 2A before the 07-08 season. In fact Hermantown beat Duluth Marshall in the state championship game in 2007.

Thanks for the correction. I for some reason forgot the Hermantown used to be in 7A

I think this will be a classic IRC match, I think this one will be alot better in Virginia. It seems whenever other teams plays in Hibbing its never seems to be to their advantage(I'll leave it at that). :x

Albert Lea leads the Devils 3-2 going into the 3rd period and then the home cooking reffing took over. 5 on 3 goals and a 5 on 4 goal in the third. I started laughing when I heard that. Doesn't surprise me one bit.

And bluedevils, about Hibbing losing 6 straight section finals it is painful and frustrating but at least when Hibbing did go to the state tourney back in 03,04 I believe they competed taking 5th and 3rd, not going two and out and beating some pretty good teams along the way.

I'm not predicting on the game because my Hibbing homerism will show so All's I'm going to say is Hibbing is hot. Playing really good hockey right now and its going to be one heck of a game at the packed Miners Arena Saturday night.

Ya Hibbing beat Virginia in semis in 2006 and 2007.

Hibbing is hot right now and Virginia has been a little off, but once they score their first goal, nothing stops them. Should be full house on sat.

good rivalry , unfortunately being arch rivals the game tends to get a bit rough, good hockey turns bad in a heart beat when these two clash. If the refs call the bad ones early set the tempo it might not get out of control. Not going to be easy but the Devils take this one.

hibbing will need to stay out of the box, ALL virginia's goals at the decc last year came on the power play.
