After an impressive showing in a tie against Blaine, the Hounds head south to take on the undefeated, #1 ranked Skippers. After holding down one of the state's best groups of forwards, do they have a chance against the state's best defense?

"state's best group of forwards" You lost some of your credibility with that comment. Totally unimpressed. Hopefully that ended the discussion of Bugstad being a leader for Mr. Hockey.

Feel free to disagree (as I also don't believe that Blaine has the best forwards in the state) but you're bit harsh there with the criticism of Karl. Tonka's forwards dominated Blaine and smothered them with a forecheck they had a very difficult time solving. A fantastic game by the Blaine goalie was the only thing that kept that game from being a blowout.

Karl,
Have to agree with the "Gov" on this one. We (STA) played Tonka twice and have two very good lines of forwards (Crandall, Isaackson, etc.) and...and I have to say the Tonka forwards are an untold story on that team even w/o Gardiner. ....SO a minor caution about falling into the media trap like our friends at "LHP" and others by hyping the comparison between the Tonka "D" to the Blaine forwards which makes admittedly may make a great story... However, that is a "media story" and not the real story from what I know about Tonka. They have the best "D" in the state no question, but their forwards may also be the best in the state as well. No one will argue that Bugstad is not a great player but from a STA perspective he is just one player and the Tonka forwards who don't get much press (exlcuding Gardiner) are young, talented, deep and appear to be the real deal based on the MNhockey.com stats and the games I saw on myfoxhockey (EP), FSN (Blaine) and live over the Holidays at the Schwan's (STA)...
Just my two respectful cents Karl as I generally highly value your opinions which are often based on a lot of facts and stated with integrity.

Wow, didn't intend to generate any controversy with that line. I'll edit it to "one of the best groups of forwards." Will that make everyone happy? And can we talk about the game now?

Karl, you know as well as I do you'll never make everyone happy.
About the game; Tonka by a few.

Is that a joke? Seven nothing? They might lose but no way Jojo gives up 7 goals, and no way the under- rated defense allows that.

I think the post was inadvertently thought East was playing Eagan as to the 7-0 score..
Tonka has to lose one game... and although I want to go with the upset, having the trek down to Tonka will be a tough ride for the Hounds.
I will go with Tonka 5-2..... in a close game... It will be 3-2 late in the game, Holl will score a PP goal with 4 min left, and then an empty netter to seal the deal, but, a game that reinforces East will be ready come sections.
Karl... you won't need the Duluth National Enquirer to get the story recap..

So true. *sigh*
Either way, I'm looking forward to a fun night of hockey in Minnetonka. If East plays like they did against Blaine, they should be able to keep the margin down around 1 or 2. If they can do that and get a little luck...you never know.

I think the Skippys or Skippers are due for a thrashing.
I'll say
Hounds 6
Skippies 1
skippers vs. hounds

Tonka 4 - Hounds 2
Blaine forwards are not too shabby. Against Tonka perhaps not quite as sharp but they are pretty darn good.
