Tonka - 5
SW - 2

Wouldn't be surprised if the tonka b/u goalie plays today....

The Skippers had a late game last night. Who knows with a Stillwater team who can really play when they want too and maybe Tonka will throw in the b/u. Closer then we think but Tonka wins.

Tonka-6
Stillwater-4

Well lets get it out of the way. Even if Stillwater comes out and plays well everyone will say due to Gardiner being out, playing Edina last night or BU goalie in. Stillwater has 2 of thier Varsity Defensemen out.

TONKA is a very good team and on paper should win, but Stillwater is a team that could show up and surprise them. We just don't know which Stillwater team shows up tonight. Either way it will be a good game.

If Stillwater brings its NHL game, it will win... tight forecheck, effective neutral zone trap, standing up the Tonka forwards at the blueline, and great goaltending.

I look for a let down from Minnetonka after a rather emotional game vs Edina last night, and this is what is now commonly being called "a trap game."....

If Stillwater plays with nothing to lose, doesn't read the press clippings and Coach Housley gives them a plan he know the team is capable of playing, an upset is possible. IF an upset happens, it will be a 1-0 or 2-1 game..

However, if Tonka's Justin Holl continues to play like he has of late, I believe he has 9 goals as a Dman, and with Hesketh and Prochno, Stillwater will have it's hands full... Coatta was silent versus Edina, but I also think he will get back on the board.

Stillwater cannot afford a shootout or a track meet..

I am pulling for the Ponies..... I am tired of hearing how the only reason Tonka people know about Sillwater is because they drive thru the city enroute to their lake cabins, when they are bored of their Lake Tonka homes...

Go get 'em Ponies!!!!

Ironic that the Stillwater U16 is facing Minnetonka's U16 tonight in the semi-final of the Schwann's Cup. We also have about as much chance as the Varsity so two Ponies long shots coming up tonight!

Go Ponies!

Does anyone know if the varsity hockey game is on twitter tonight?

5-1 final

Good Luck to Tonka you have Edina 2xs and Wayzata 2xs. Get your top dog back right before State.

Hopefully this will put to rest all the preseason hype on the Stillwater team. They have beaten 3 average-to-below average teams so far all year. They will finish in the middle of a down conference this year & will be seeded no higher than 4th in a top heavy section. They are not well coached and have never won anything. The offseason dreaming is over & reality has settled in. Stillwater is average!

The final is a bit disappointing, but not entirely expected. I would be curious to find out who did the Tonka scoring, shots on goal, etc..

Kruger from Tonka is a solid goaltender, so if Stillwater was able to get some shots, that is a good sign.

Other than Cretin, looks like every team in SEC is only a max one game over .500 or all below .500. If any team is a disappointment, it's Woodbury.

Also, would be curious if Housley started Pennella versus Cotter...

Agreed!! Bringing that HM superiority attitude to this thread is out of line. Start your own forum for that stuff. Losing to Tonka, particularly at Pagel, is no knock-out statement on Stillwater. They had a respectable showing.

Considering the Ponies lost in the Schwans Cup 4-2 to #2A Breck w EN goal, and Cretin 3-2, in which both games they matched shot for shot, they are not getting outplayed by any means.. until Tonka.. the past 2+ weeks...

Being an outsider to the Ponies, I think they have been playing pretty solid hockey... and will be just fine now that Conference play will kick in...

It's just typical Hill Murray.

- Steal from others to make thier hockey program

- Hijack Threads and make them all about Hill Murray and how great they are

- Stillwater lost to Yonka last season 6-0 at home. Losing by 4 against a better Tonka is something we aren't worried about. Stillwater schedules some of the top programs in the State for Non Conference games. They want the competition, they know when the real season starts.

Good Luck with Tartan and STA this week. SEC teams will be ready come Sections.

Stillwater keeps playing like that do, Hill we keep "stealing" their players. We love the work Housely does & hope he stays a long time.

I really enjoy all the moral victories you've had so far. If it's not complaining about some aspect of the game, it's spinning it to make ya feel better. It's worked well so far.

At least you get to return to conference play now and get to mop up on the likes of White Bear Lake....ooppss, nevermind.

Thanks for the well wishes for this week. STA & Tartan are solid clubs this year. They have both done things that Stillwater hasn't...won conference titles, section titles, and beat HM. Until Stillwater does the same.... :-$

Unlike your cheering for Hill, I have a reason to cheer for Stillwater. Whereas your cheering for Hill is just you living in the past...................maybe someday your kid can be the Team Manager just like you were. Stillwater has been losing kids to Hill since it opened and will continue weather Housley is there or not, so go grind your axe some where else.

Looks like this thread has strayed from the discussion of the actual game. Which, if I'm reading the subject of this thread right, did not include Hill-Murray.
