Many of you may have read today's StarTribune regarding hockey in Minneapolis:

Or seen this recent story on WCCO,

Southwest Minneapolis Hockey has taken in five of these players who love the game and wanted to experience 'association' hockey. We need some help from our friends in Minnesota Hockey.

As everyone knows, it costs around $1,000 to $1,300 to put a kid on the ice and all of the expenses (not to mention those out of town hotels!).

In addition, these kids, due to family or financial situations need a driver and a vehicle. We need just over $1,500 to cover driver costs for these players, vehicle costs, gas, and maintenance. In fact, as of January 1 SWHA will need to 'bridge' money to the New Directions program to make sure these kids can get to the rinks.

If hockey has been good for your kid as it has been for mine, we could use your help in helping others experience the game. Any donation amount will be helpful Please PM me regarding more information on how you can help us.

Thanks and Happy New Year!

Cooper has a 9th grader (Nehwon Norkeh) who started with that program in 6th grade. He is doing very well and working hard.

I worked with Pastor Dale Hulme to get him some donated equipment (they do have some) and get him started. Incindentally, LOW INCOME kids from inner ring suburbs can take part (20% of the kids can come from outside of Mpls).

Consider donating and helping keep it afloat.
