I don't think this years Eden Prairie team will not repeat as back to back State tournament winners. The loss of too may this senior class of members that should be players at EP High School may be too much to overcome. The senior leadership of Rogge, Ericson, Loken, may not be enought to win. A great number of this kids have seeked a higher level of play beyond EP High School and have enrolled at private schools or in Juniors. Jason Clark at Shattuck, Brett Patterson, John Duda, Jake Meyer at Belilde, Mooney and Bullock, or Blake T, playing in the USHL. You just can't replace this talent. Look for EP to take the title next year, if all commiti to EP high school, but don't bet on it. EP is in the mix, but is just not talented to make a run.

I've got news for you....Benilde, Breck and Blake do not constitute a "higher level of play beyond EP High School". Keep in mind that EP has won two state titles (Bantam A & HS AA) since Clark, Patterson, Duda, Meyer, Mooney, Thompson and others departed. EP is ranked exactly where they were one year ago. It will be a mistake to write this team off.

Couldn't agree more here. I looked at the points from last year - Rau 51pts SO, Rogge 40pts JR, Erickson 38pts JR. Consider the teams they played too... I think they're doing just fine despite the fact the Rau by himself is a game changer.

Section 6 is filled with land mines in the the form of tonka, wayzata, bsm ep, and hopkins (rememer they have Fons).

So if they do make it to state, they will be the favorites.

I wouldn't want to be the 4 or 5 seed in this section, 3 really tough games would be waiting for those 2 teams.

It's still early in the season and many of these kids have won 4 state tourneys in a row...

Review what Blueblood states. That may be the toughest section in the state. And it ain't just about forwards and points.

Can EP repeat? Absolutely, I think with the scores and results of this week, anyone can win. I think Tonka is in a class by itself, but you still need to drop the puck and play the game. I think EP has as much chance as about 10 other teams this year. I'm not a EP fan, but do respect them very much and wouldn't want to meet them in sections or state.

They will have to get through some very good teams in order to get to state. Their chances increase if they can get to state.

This Junior class has quite the rap sheet. EP has lost from a 2nd year Bantam season players of Patterson, Clark, Thompson, Mooney, Meyers, Bullock. Miller, Duda and so on. What gives any thinking this group will dominate a senior year to win at the STATE. Probabaly next year if everyone sticks around at EP might win. Personally, the Rau's will move on too a higher level and the EP high school season for 2010-2011 will be average at best.

I believe the question was can EP repeat? The answer is no - unless a couple of the top teams get knocked out in flukey games like last year and they get to play Moorhead again My guess is they don't make it out of sections but stranger things have happened in the past...

EP is definitely missing a number of key players from their prior Bantam season. They have enough depth to re-tool, but is this enough to overcome a Tonka, Wayzata, Jefferson and so on teams to win the Lake and get a number 1 seed?
