Cloquet's opponents= virgina, GR, S St.paul, buff, WBL, Cambridge, and Duluth East...

Centrals opponents= Silver bay, Two Harbors, Pine City, Bloom Kennedy, Greenway

HUGE difference in schedules so Centrals 5-0 record doesn't mean anything!!! and theirs no way cloquet looses to duluth central, even though they are struggling bad...

I will give you that CEC's schedule has been more than DC's, but CEC not only lost 1-6 to a 2-5-1 Rapids team and got shut out by a mediocre, imo, Virginia team, but tied Proctor.

No, if I was a betting man, I would not put much money either way on this game, but I definitely wouldn't count the Trojans out.

I know cloquet hasn't faired well against those teams but you still gotta give them some credit.. They've played pretty much all State-ranked teams including 7a champs Virginia and a Grand Rapids team who upset my boys from warroad(state-Ranked)....Lets see hear

Cloquet= a Team who plays competitive State-Ranked MINNESOTA HS hockey teams

or

Duluth Central= a Team who plays Bantam b-2 skill level hockey with teams they have on their schedule....that most of them could barely get enough players to put together a team this year

Central can win this. Even while I'm hard pressed to see Cloquet in a position to overlook anybody this season, the Trojans are due.

Besides, this game is the headline matchup at the Heritage that evening, pushing the East-Moorhead game to the 5:00 time slot! Image

Do I think the Trojans can win? Yes I do, but they haven't played anyone yet so I truly believe they aren't as good as their record shows. Cloquet needs a win here and I think it will be a close game.

Jacks-5 EN
Trojans-3

Cloquet has everything to lose here and Central has everything to gain.

The only way I see Central winning is if they jump out to an early 2 goal lead. This will put a lot of pressure on Cloquet and they will probably start making mistakes. But if Cloquet can get the lead early, they will gain some confidence and settle right in.

Another way to look at it is some people thought the Proctor vs Cloquet game would be close. I believe Cloquet showed mediocre class A teams don't have a chance vs them winning 10-2.

No matter how it ends... it should be an interesting result.

Wow, is Central that bad to lose 1-7 or is CEC just a victim of their schedule thus far?

Duluth Central: A Little Weaker than last season when I saw them lose to Cloquet only 3-1.....Duluth Central will keep on beating the teams on their easy schedule like Ely, Two HArbors, Spooner, etc. but dont look for them to beat any teams out of the norm

Cloquet: This win will give the Lumberjacks some confidence going into the rest of their season as they walked all over the trojans.... Passes were crisp and it seemed like a powerplay the whole game as Central struggled to get shots...

Denfeld - Central

What is going to happen with Denfeld and Central hockey next year ? Are they simply combining into a Class AA size school ? What's it going to be called ?

Almost got beat up at this game...by a parent. I had gotten there a little to see if Central could upset the Jacks. The parents kept yelling things like "PLAY BETTER!", "PULL OUR GOALIE", or "LEARN TO SHOOT" about their own team. I remarked to my friend, "Wow, I thought our parents could be bad, but these parents are downright negative and hurtful" A woman goes "WELL YOU CAN LEAVE" and I was like "Me? I didn't say anything about your team" I really just wanted to tell her to have fun being called the Denfeld Trojans but that probably wouldnt have ended well. Those parents thought Central was the Bulldogs or the Gophers. They kept making stupid comments and I really wanted to turn around and just say, "Well maybe if #15 (random #) doesnt check the guy 3 seconds after he passes the puck and takes himself out of the play, they wouldnt get odd man rushes, or maybe Central should stop inviting Cloquet players to the party in front of their net... Or give up 3 goals on the same powerplay..."

 Oh hockey parents. I had a similar experience at the state tournament my freshman year.

As for what's happening with Duluth schools, it's still a bit up in the air. The Denfeld students will all be at Central for a year, though some of the Central students can go to East if they will be graduating from that high school after it closes. So we'll see where the enrollments end up; there's a decent chance Denfeld/Central will be forced to play AA for one year, though that may not continue once things are properly sorted out between the two new high schools (the new East will have a higher enrollment than the new Denfeld; whether it will be enough to keep Denfeld in A, we don't know yet). Last I heard they haven't made a decision on the names yet.
