What's up with their schedule? They haven't played one game yet. Why? Are they going to skip the reg season and go straight to state?

It's simple...there special, so they get extra time work on powerplay, penaltykill, and o zone and d zone coverages.

Are they doing many non-conf games this year or can't they because of tournaments?

<img src=

All I can remember is Baraball lighting up the so-called Moorhead defense in the Final. I'm sure he'll be doing much the same this year.
"Dream as if you'll live forever; Live as if you'll die today." --James Dean

The past couple of years their schedule has always been late. I don't like it either, but look at the situation. They play a conference that is usually pretty week, but you cannot look past them and the non-conference teams may not want to play them until the middle of the season. I don't know who makes the schedule or how they decide. I can add this, one thing that looks good for them this year is that the football team finished later so that gave them a chance to get their hockey legs in order and they were able to work out the early injuries.
Here is a schedule:
12 - 12 Hutchinson at RIA 7:30
12 - 15 Chaska at Chaska 7:30
12 - 17 Northfield at the Ice Box 2:00
12 - 20 Osseo at RIA 7:30
12 - 27 Duluth East at the X
12 - 28 at Schwan's
12 - 29 at Schwan's
1 - 6 Prior Lake at RIA 7:30
1 - 10 New Prague at RIA 7:30
1 - 12 Red Wing at RIA 7:30
1 - 14 Minnetonka at RIA 7:30
1 - 16 Mt. Like I said, I do not know who does the scheduling.
This is some information from a third party, not me or anyone affiliated with AHA. This is from someone who has been around high school hockey for over 40 years. Think about it before you rip the wording....
Why would a good team, ie Hill, WBL, Wayzata or Edina, want to play a non conference game early in a season when the opposing team could beat you therefore giving you a loss. Why not play them in the middle of the season when you both are in mid-season form. Makes some sense I believe.
Now back to my words, I do not like it, I wish we would be playing a tougher schedule. But then I remember, I am not playing, I am a fan watching. My feelings do not matter so I let it go. Much like most people on this board need to do....
________________________________
Academy of Holy Angels
2005 GIRLS STATE CHAMPS!
2002 & 2005 BOYS STATE CHAMPS!!
GO STARS!!

I also thought the schedule this year looked a little disapointing. It's too bad they have to play a weak hockey conference. But I do look forward to the more challenging games on the schedule. Zamman - Do you know why the team form Mass is not travelling to Minn this year? I thought they were going to do annual home and home with both east coast teams.

The Mass team has not come west yet. I do not know why... MSC has come one other year and that year they played SSM and beat them 10 - 1? then the next night MSC got beat by AHA 5 - 2...
________________________________
Academy of Holy Angels
2005 GIRLS STATE CHAMPS!
2002 & 2005 BOYS STATE CHAMPS!!
GO STARS!!

hey bulldog, remember??? AHA doesn't have a bantam team, they just steal other programs players........but i do agree their chedule is weak but it always will if they stay in that conference, they'll make it to state every year. it'll just be a challenge to see if they can continue to win it.....but an advantage to this to other teams is they only play a few tough teams so when they play the big boys they might have trouble but then again, they didnt have any trouble last year so.............. i guess it'll be fun to watch!

AHA played White Bear Lake the last few years, is there a reason why they aren't playing this year?

They have played the last couple of years. I do not know why they are not this year.

Just because they play a weak conference does not mean they waltz into state. They still have to get through Section 5 which has had some pretty darn good teams...
________________________________
Academy of Holy Angels
2005 GIRLS STATE CHAMPS!
2002 & 2005 BOYS STATE CHAMPS!!
GO STARS!!

Wayzata was probably seen as a tough non conference game at the time and wayzata is just having an off year. Benilde shouldnt be a cakewalk although i dont know how they are doing this year.

How much ice time will the young Matson get this year? I coached against him last year and thought he was the best bantam player I had seen.

And what about AHA playing Shattuck? They went into overtime with them last year. This year the game is at Shattuck, but they are always the closest to winning among other HS teams and play them every year.
