Yeah if you look at the StarTribune it usually ranks west metro teams higher.

This has to be one of the screwiest lists of scorers I've seen. It seems that if you play West of the river your stats don't count. They should qualify the list by saying "Leading Scorers East of the Mississippi in the St. Paul Metro (i.e. our subscriber's area)".

This must be the stats just for St. Paul teams.

I am sure the girls stats listed are correct - But they have left out at least 20 teams...

Stop posting that Pioneer Press list. It's got nothing to do with anything. Not even close to accurate. Maybe they deserve their opinion on ranking but don't post the scorer list. I thought there was agreement that the most accurate is,

Please note that I can't control what the papers print. I only copy it here so that maybe people will be aware what is being printed.

Suggestion:

Contact the sports department at paper of concern, possibly voice your concern, send them your team's stats (or your half of the metro areas stats if needed), and suggest to your team's coach that they submit their team's info. to the paper.

I regularly laugh at what is printed but as a former coach I made sure that my team's stats were submitted each week in a timely fashion and I sent weekly press releases to the papers including Strib, PioneerP, LPH, local paper (think Sun Current).

The St. Paul Pioneer Press sends out a list for coaches to complete - ex last week Hill Murray didn't submit this week only top 3 scorers - list is nice but based on the coaching getting stats right and in. Coaches have a lot to do probably better to follow a site like http://www.minnesotasportsonline.com/sp ... &sport=110 seem to have good metro stats.

I do applaud the coverage of Prep Sports by the Pioneer Press - great effort!

It's not really the job of a newspaper to compile stats. They're undermanned enough--they need to have a 'service' to supply them. That's why I think both the PP and ST websites link to minnesotasportsonline.com. However, maybe there's a problem actually publishing those in the paper. Anyway, minnesotasportsonline.com is very much up-to-date with all the metro teams, or any others who will assign a parent to take 5 minutes and send in the stats. It's very simple, and if any teams out there don't know about it they aren't paying attention. And if they do know about it and don't care, then we shouldn't care either.
