This is a look at the top 20 or so Bantam teams in the state. If you would like to comment on the Rankings, please by all means. If you would like to post scores to tempt me, do so.... if you want to talk about the computer generated Rankings of another site or piss and moan about your team your coach or someone else please do all that on another forum.

In other words lets just let this be about the Bantam A rankings only.

The a really hard week for some of the TOP MN teams as they played Outstate AAA teams in Shattuck this weekend. There was some minor scores to report from some league play, but it will be after the Holidays before we get another good look at Major Bantam games.

1 Woodbury - has not shown any chink in the Armor
2 Minnetonka - defeats Burnsvile 4-2 for control of D6
3 Duluth East - Had some trouble putting the puck in the net, still a team to be beat
4 Edina - played a couple of nice games this weekend
5 Eden Prairie - has been very good as of late, tough tie with AV
6 Wayzata - beat East in shootout, troubles scoring, but great defense wins
7 Maple Grove -
8 Grand Rapids - Made a twin cities run, beat Coon Rapids and Blaine
9 Burnsville - Played well vs Tonka and is showing to be a force to play this year
10 Roseau - next weekends tourney will be a good test for them
11 White Bear Lake - lost to Edina in early game, but played better through the weekend
12 Apple Valley - tied EP
13 Stillwater -
14 Eagan - playing well vs top teams / beat a improving Cottage Grove
15 Centennial - lost to all but one AAA teams this weekend
16 Jefferson -
17 Blaine - lost to Grand Rapids this weekend, big week in D10 as they face #19
18 Cloquet -
19 Andover - played well in Big D-10 games this weekend
20 East Grand Forks - another Northern team showing up to play

On the outside looking in - (in no particular order)

Solid ranking once again Chuck Norris Fan looks to be a good test up in Roseau for a handful of top 20 teams this weekend. Woodbury, Maple Grove, Roseau, Andover, Eagan, Grand Rapids, Shattuck (tier?), East Grand Forks all are in the hunt along with Chaska, Cottage Grove, Lakeville South, Roseville, GF Wheatkings, GF Sugarkings, TRF and Warroad rounding out the list of teams.

Great analysis here. Woodbury definitely deserves #1 at this point.

CNF,

nice job! I pretty much agree - 100%.

Did you see Minnetonka vs Burnsville? Your post is the first I knew about it. I've seen both teams more than once this year, and actually thought Burnsville had a chance.

My vote is still Woodbury #1.

I went to 3 VFW games last night Mounds Veiw won Vs Tartan North St Paul won vs WSP and Woodbury won 4-1 vs Rebals. I have to vote for Tonka after watching them play.

4 Wayzata - Getting better everyday, beat Edina, and posted the best score vs Shattuck
5 Maple Grove - Takes down former #1 woodbury
6 Edina - lost to Wayzata
7 Eden Prairie - struggled but eventally beat a down Centennial
8 Burnsville - This is a good team, take them serious
9 Grand Rapids - dropped tough one to Maple Grove, beat up on poorer teams
10 Eagan - beat Andover and East Grand, lost tight one to Maple Grove
11 White Bear Lake -
12 Apple Valley -
13 Stillwater -
14 Blaine - Beat Rival Andover
15 Andover - lost to blaine and Eagan, beat east Grand Forks and Roseau

CNF-

Was wondering if you might be able to explain your logic as to why you have Blaine and Andover ahead of Jefferson or Chaska.

Taking into account the strenght of schedule and level of competition in D6 compared to D10. Not taking anything away D10 as there are some nice clubs in that district. But no district, state wide, has the depth that D6 does. The proof for that is in your rankings, 7 of 10 teams in the top 20.

-Jefferson has beat Blaine head to head this season.

-Comparing opponents that both Jefferson and Andover have played, Eagan, Blaine and Coon Rapids.

Jefferson is 2-0-1, tying Eagan.

Andover is 1-2.

Ok well long and short here it is. These rankings are based on the whole season but more importantly what have you done for me lately. Other computer generated Rankings do not take teams improvement into account.

These were my thoughts:

- Eagan has improved since Jeffersons Tie.
- Head to head does not always show who is better. for example: Centennial has beaten EP are they a better team? No.
- no doubt that D6 is a stronger district than 10 this year, however These are the Leaders in 10 vs the middle of the back to back end of 6.
- Jefferson won the Govenors Ball this weekend big deal!!
- Chaska had close games with good teams but lost. Only good score they posted was win over Edina
- most importantly : we are talking about 14-16 here it is practically a toss up any day of the week who will win if they teams played any given day.

Right On!

Was just curious to hear as to what process and the methods to which you get your rankings.

I know I am not alone in saying that your rankings are a big draw to this site. Keep up the good work and thanks for the weekly updates.

Chuck's got 'em in the right spot there newbie just relax and enjoy the 5 spot (you've earned it). The ranks are more science than art and CNF has been treading Bantam waters for a while now.

I know. Someone said they weren't a top team, only a good team. A top team is in the top 5..so I believe they are in the right spot. And newbie? I've been a poster on here since I played Bantams 5 years ago!

Coon Rapids 4 St. Cloud 3
Princeton 5 Coon Rapids 3

Did not see the St. Cloud game, but from what I heard from one of the parents CR played well and all 3 lines had equal ice time which hasn't been the case in previous games. I watched the game against Princeton last night and CR was leading 3-1 going into the 3rd period, but reverted back to using mainly 2 lines throughout the 1st 2 periods which costed them the game in the 3rd period. #1 and #2 lines didn't have much left in them. Don't quite understand why they want to play only 2 lines early into the game you would think the opposite and save the legs for the 3rd period then shorten the bench if need be. Just my opinion

You should think about what you already wrote before you say JUST MY OPINION: REMEMBER THIS?

Correct me if I am wrong:
#1 The coach inherited these kids habits from prior years did he not?
#2 If you attended there games this weekend did he not bench the player that let the bomb out? Is he not attempting to deal with the problem?
#3 What about your son on the B2 team ever consider what he is doing wrong? Maybe you oughta concentrate on his progress before trashing the A Team. What I was trying to get across is that the players involved with this type of behavior have been doing this for years and why now does it get high priority? You have a coach that is a non parent coach that is dealing with this the way he believes he needs to right or wrong. Only we can judge in our opinion if that is the way to deal with the issue
____________________________________________________________
OR WHAT ABOUT THIS?
No not testy at all. I don't have a player on this team it's just that loveitorleaveit has a problem with his son not making the team so he needs to highlite the issues with the "A"s

I was going to take your advice and leave this team alone. Looks like you can't
