Oh really that's interesting, did not know that. How old is he?

Bjugstad is a heavy favorite, but i'd add Connor Reilly from AHA, Tyson Fulton from Breck, and Adam Krause from Hermantown.

adam knochenmus got any chance?

Max Gardiner from Minnetonka.

Knochenmus is definitely a good player, but I don't think Mr. Hockey.

anyone from Minnetonka, but i doubt any one of them can win it because they are all on the same team and they are all so good

Not to change the subject, but Minnetonka has 4 D1 players. How many players on last years Edina team have commited or are playing D1?

2 are playing right now, Lee verbaled and i'm sure they'll have a couple more when all is said and done...

That's a difficult question to answer, because players that were on Edina's team last year will get D1 offers in the future. The same goes for this year's Minnetonka team. However, as simply as I can answer; Everson, Lee, and Budish had D1 offers at some point during last year's hockey season.

The better answer to that question will come five years from now.

Back on topic, Prochno is leading the Skippers in scoring, and I'm hopeful he has a crack at taking home the Mr. Hockey award. The problem will be how many of his teammates will also get nominated. They'll split votes.

I believe Budish, Everson, Lee, and Baker all had committed at or around this point last year, to give some perspective.

Interesting how much hype that group got through high school, yet we haven't really heard about the Minnetonka group until this year. But I suppose a lot goes into that...success at the youth level, some players blooming later than others, and the hockey history of their hometown. I suppose it doesn't help the Minnetonka group that 3 of them are defensemen, too.

Another name that should probably be thrown out there is Brock Nelson from Warroad.

Karl, good toss here. In talking to a father, whom I well respect, and whose kid was involved on one of the two final Elite league teams that played in the year-end tourney, when asked if there was anyone that stood out on those two teams, without hesitation he said Brock Nelson.

He said with his size, his hands were strong and smooth, and he was so gifted on the ice, his skating looked effortless as he blew around and thru people, and he had a bomb for a shot. He said he could do almost anything he wanted to on the ice. He compared him to, in Minnesota high school hockey perspective, to how Alex Ovechkin controls play when on ice.

He did mention one other player, whose name I forgot, and compared him to a Minnesota perspective of Sid Crosby....

Justin Crandall, Mark Alt, and Max Gaede may have the best chance among east metro teams.

And that's what's the shame with writer's/voters.... If Ben Marshall of Mahtomedi (Class A) was good enough to give a verbal to the U as a soph, and Adam Wilcox of South St. Paul is good enough to go to U, then these writer's can't overlook these players... If the scouts see the talent, then the writer's should, too.

Goldfishdude is right. If you're a good hockey player, it shouldn't matter if you play A or AA. There's no rule precluding a player from a single A team so I hope they equally consider all the great players - it's a deep class for sure.

The last five winners were defensemen from AA schools. No reason to break the pattern now... go Prochno!!

this is a two horse race with Nelson and Bjugstad. Nelson should put up better number. but bjugstad has the whole AA thing going for him so we will see

I don't buy the "splitting votes" theory because theoretically you vote for the player and not the school. In other words any vote that say doesn't go to Gardiner because it went to Prochno is a vote that also didn't go to another player on another team. In that sense it didn't Gardiner any more than it hurt ______.

That said I'm not saying a Skipper will win because there are other solid candidates out there not wearing blue and white.

How about Joey Benik. Scored a hat trick last night. I'd say he's off to a good start.
