Yes they are still Missota I believe this is the last year for them.

Yes, this is the last year for both Hutchinson and Prior Lake in the Missota.

Beginning next year, Chaska and Chanhassen join the Missota, so there will still be eight schools.

I know Chaska and Chan are doing a coop team this year. Will they be separated by next year?

I think that they should be in the near future, not sure when or if it is in the making. I think they could handle it having two teams. they would probably have to do away with the U14 if they want a JV program. But then again you dont have to have a JV.

Farmington at Shakopee on Decmber 3rd.... I think the 2 best teams in the conference... who will come out on top?

Farmington has been tough through 4 games- most scoring from 1 line and decent goaltending.

Shakopee has struggled a little on the offensive side but has had good solid goaltending.

Will be a good game for sure with a lot of importance in the conference run.

I agree it will be a big game. I haven't seen Shakopee play this year but I have seen Farmington and I was impressed. They don't have a lot of depth but they have some good players and a good goalie. I'll say 3-2 Farmington but its just a wild guess.

Farmington does have some good players in Bauman, Alexander and Severson. They also have a solid golatender in Erchul.

Shakopee has some pretty good players as well- Menke, Hespenheide and Menke and their 2nd line has added a few goals as well. Gansen is a decent goalie too. It will be a good game.... I give the edge to Shakopee as it is in their rink. 4-2

Late to the party but I'll chime in time to time re: missota Only seeing Farmington play this year but knowing the quality of Shakopee, I will give it to Shako in a close one 2-1. Each team is evenly matched with decent goalies and strong defense.

The first round goes to Shakopee... they beat Farmington 3-1 in Shakopee. We'll see what happens next time around in Farmington. Does this win make Shakopee the team to beat in the Missota or is it too ealry to tell yet? That looks like a nice win for the Sabers.

IMO the conference is way down this year but still some pretty good hockey so far. We are about midway thorugh and the standings have:

Shakopee 5-0
Farmington 5-1
Red Wing 5-1

Farmingotn's one conference loss is to Shakopee and the Shakopee-Red Wing game was snowed out and will be made up on February 6th. That will be a big game for both teams.

Who will finish on top this year?

Yes those are the three powerhouse teams and Prior Lake is starting to pull themselves out of cellar winning 6 of their last 7 games going down to Red Wing tonight. Shakopee should win the Missota with Farmington and Red Wing battling for the 2 seed.

What's going on with Holy Angels this year? I knew Romotoski graduating would be a big loss, but they can't seem to win a game this year. Didn't expect them to be this bad. One of the parents said the loss of the asst. coach this year was a bigger loss and has really hurt the player's development and bonding. He said some of the players quit and that made things worse with hardly enough for a jv team. The seasons not going well for them.

Big upset last night in Red Wing - Prior Lake upsets Red Wing 4 - 3 even after the refs had taken away a PL goal 5 minutes after the RW coach complained (?) PL held the all-world Rose Aleva to a goal and an assist. She played the entire game except for one maybe two shifts and it showed later in the third. RW has an 8th grader Schammel that is impressive but PL's 7th grade defenseman is even better. Citrowske from PL had a great game as well as their goalie.

Big week coming up for many of the top teams....
Shako at Farmingotn on Tuesday and then Shako at Red Wing on Thursday

Prior Lake at New Prague on Tuesday...Farmington at Prior Lake on Thursday

New Prague at Northfield on Friday....

Any predictions on how things will shake out in the next week or so... it's a tight race for the conference title
Farmington 7-1 (14 pts, 12 remaining)
Shakopee 6-1 (12 points, 14 remaining)
Prior Lake 5-2-1 (11 points, 12 remaining)
Red Wing 5-3 (10 points, 12 remaining)
New Prague 3-4-1 (7 points, 12 remaining)
Hutch 2-6 (4 points, 12 remaining)
Holy Angels 2-7 (4 points, 10 remaining)
Northfield 1-7 (2 points, 12 remaining)

Yes, it is getting interesting in the Missota but I think Farmington and Shako will continue to battle it out for the conference title. Thinking Farmington will beat Shako at home this time around Tuesday and PL should be able to edge out NP even with their hot goalie. With 6 games left, my guess on how they end up is in this order:
Farmington
Shakopee
Redwing / Prior Lake (tough call)
New Prague
Hutchinson
Northfield
Holy Angels (yes HA in the cellar)

it sure was... New Prague has been playing very well lately.. I saw in the paper that the shots were like 40-19 and NP had an empty netter.... just makes the games this week all that more important.

NP has a very good D they do not let you get very many good shots off, Has anyone heard if Brooke Bartelt has been offered anything yet, I would say if she has not it wont be long and a good D1 will find her.
