i know its not one of the most powerful sections in the state but it should make for some pretty interesting matchups with Cretin, Woodburry, and Apple Valley all looking pretty even this year. Any Thoughts?

I do not think Woodbury will trip themselves up this year.

Woodburys looking pretty flawless at this point in time but you never know till the puck drops! expect to see over-confidence out of these boys!

What I know of these kids is that they are anything but over confident. I'd expect them to come out fighting....

Why would you put Hastings at #3? Sorry, but with all due respect to you and the Hastings team, you might as well put some tapes in the VCR from the 90's and relive the glory days of elite Hastings teams led by Taffe and Welch. Hastings may have a chance at getting an upset in sections, and hopefully they can get enough good players through the youth association to have a good amount of talent in each graduating class.

1. Woodbury - theirs to lose, size, experience, tight group.
2. Eagan - have to put it together at some point
3. CDH - one strong line not deep enough
4. AV - solid goaltending could be higher
5. Eastview - dont know enough
6. Park - good group of seniors will be better then last year
7. Hastings - nelson cant do it alone, lost a lot in the nets
8. Henry Sibley - anyone left over there??
9. Rosemount - won't take much to be better then last year but they dont even have that

One of the weakest sections this year, could be any of these teams.

U will be surprised as all 4 from the region semi's are going to be better this yr vs last yr. AV will be way better and they made the finals.

Pre-season report on AV:

Tryouts start on Monday but here is what I'm thinking as of now-

Goalies:
Gretz (JR)- Varisty since FR year very solid
Olson (SO)- Big solid goaltender I would expect to win back-up spot but also see some time

Defense:
Smith (SO)- Varsity last year calm and cool with the puck ran the PP last year as freshman, will only feel more comfortable this year
Robson (SR)- Big hitter in his 4th year of varsity experience
*Chicago move in* (SO)- rumor has it he could be the best defender on the team now and is very skilled, dont have a name and the sophomore grade is what I heard am not positive as tryouts progress and scrimmages im sure ill have more

Forwards:
Goodman (JR)- probably wasn't ready last year skill wise for varsity but played all year there, brings more of a physical game
Berens (JR)- Small little player hurt some last season as a soph. had a little trouble adjusting to the faster physical game last year
Fischer (SR)- needs to step up and be that guy that gives you points every night this year
Sikich (SR)- played forward until late in season and sections when he played D, not sure where they will play him this year but a solid player either place
Michaelson (SO)- really came on late in the year after making the adjustment, fast, like Fischer could be that guy to have points nightly for the eagles
Fasching (FR)- expected to make varisty has the size and ability to do what Michaelson did last year

I thinnk I covered all the full time Varsity only kids from last year and added in the expected back-up goaltender, as well as the rumored chicago area move in, and expected freshman on the team. Team was section-finalist last year and will be competitive with CDH, Woodbury, and anyone else who steps us this year in hopes of a section title.

Someone want to elaborate on why they had Hastings so high?

Usually a good guess.

And to respond to an earlier statement...whoever thinks this section will be weak this year hasn't been paying attention.

Whoever wrote "It's the most wonderful time of the year" was obviously referring to the start of MN high school hockey.
