If anyone has knowledge of how different associations choose to either pay or reimburse coaches, please share.

Many associations, I've heard, pay $2,000-4,000 and sometimes pay for hotel rooms.

Is that per non-parent coach or just head coaches?

Typically non-parent get more than parent and the same goes for covering hotels (non-parent assoc cover the cost so their coaches pay doesn't just go to cover expenses).
A Bant will make more than the rest normally as well (more games, touranments, practice hours, etc)

Jackstraw, one to two thousand seems to be the average from the folks i have talked to. You are a non parent head coach you deserve a little something. You could always move to Omaha or Kansas City and demand a thousand dollars a player, we both know they get it to.

I'm sorry but what you've "been told" means absolutely nothing.
What you "know for sure" means something.
Anything in between is useless.

One program near me pays their Coaching Director $30-35,000 (not a rumor, he has told several parents that is "all" he makes). A Goaltending Instructor gets $10-15,000. They also receive a coaching stipend to take travel teams.
Both are very qualified on the hockey side. If I see a weakness it is administratively.
These numbers aren't unusual I'm told throughout much of the country. This association doesn't have a lot of kids playings, so it tacks on about $500 to each player's tuition.
Several hockey parents feel this is money well spent because they have a real aversion to parent coaches. I see different problems, but I'm in the minority.

Asked the coach and he said 2K is what he gets, 1K Dec 31st and 1K Mar 1st.

I'VE HEARD.....so I don't know for sure, but I've heard that most of the top bantam coaches are getting between 8 & 10k per year. I haven't heard much about peewee's or squirts.

The A coaches in Edina are all paid a combined total of $0.00. The teams pay their hotel rooms for away tournaments, and the parents pick up the tabs on most of the meals.

They get to eat free cake too. You walked right into that one.

Since they are all Edina alumni, they probably like to eat the free cake.

I have coached 'A' level hockey in two different Associations.
I was paid a Stipend, as a non-parent Head Coach, and it was at my discretion on how to split that up among my other Non-Parent Coaching staff.
Personally I had two Assistant Coaches, and I would split this 50-25-25.
One association I received $3000 for the season and did not receive any of that until the season was completed. That was also used to cover hotel rooms and travel expenses, as well as all other expenses throughout the season. However many times for Travel Tournaments the Parents of the teams would chip in and cover a hotel room for the coaches.
Another Association I was with would pay $1000 in December and $1000-$1500 after the season. This association would ask that you keep receipts for expenses for travel during out of tournaments only. This included Gas, Meals, and Hotel. Submit those receipts and be reimbursed for Out Of Town Tournaments, usually 1-2 per season.
Honestly, every year, when I take into account gas and all expenses for coaching hockey, I take about a $3-4k LOSS, even after my Stipends. I have figured out over the course of a year to Volunteer as an A-Level Coach, it costs about $5,000+ per year.
NO Non-Parent Youth Coach in MN does this for the money. The Stipends, just HELP cover some of the expenses that coaches incur over the course of a year.
