Reilly from AHA, Horn from BSM, Schurhamer from STA and possibly krieger. Maybe Michaelson from AV, There were definetly some kids that made blips on the radar screen last year. Anyone know what these guys were up to during the off season

Breck has 3 returning Freshmen who all made contributions to last years state championship team in forwards Iverson and Traina, and defensemen Austin Ruddnick.
And yes. Mike Reilly very well may turn out to be the best of the three brothers.

I'd look out for Christian Horn. Sounds like he did well in the National Camp.

With Boyd gone, Christian Horn could be the most prolific soph scorer; he is consistently strong; I really believe the Iverson kid from Breck has such a huge upside and is a natural scorer; people might remember his sick goal in the Class A championship game; the St. Thomas sophs are pretty strong; Reilly will do well, but it will be interesting to see how his scoring goes without such strong scorers in front of him.

I would expect Judd Peterson at Denfeld, Nate Repensky at Duluth East, Tyler Tatro at Bemidji, Brenk at Moorhead to have productive seasons in 2009-2010.

Are you asking me??
Well, if you are, I would suggest that the best freshmen from the 2008-09 season might be the best sophomores for the 2009-10 season. Of course, I am just focusing on scorers here, so the defensive defensemen and goalkeepers will need their own cheerleader.
Teak wrote:Just to finish the thought, here is the
final list of freshmen regular season scoring for 2008-2009. I pulled out the 'games played' stat since most of these will have played 25 regular season games. Some teams, however, did not report all 25 (e.g., Duluth Denfeld showed only 16 total games in their summary). Oh well. It is rough measure.

You might have to wait a few weeks as half of the top sophomores were playing Bantam A last year. As a total number probably less than 10% of this season's sophomores, last year's freshmen, played high school hockey last year. Plus, scoring is just an ok measure of who are the best players. Don't get me wrong, several on the scoring list will be among the top sophomores but others will not. My top 5 returners from last years scoring list,
Boyd 93
Horn 93
Michaelson 94
Skjei 94
Dickman 93

Too bad Boyd isn't playing for Hopkins this year. He isn't even playing in Minnesota.

Yes sir, agreed. The best players are not always the top scorers, and the top scorers are not always the best players. So, how does one rate players? At least putting together a list of the top scorers gives one a place to start, otherwise threads like these devolve into single line postings that are not that interesting.
Plus, there is really no way to evaluate Bantam A's unless someone has put the information online as they do for the high school teams:

Yeah, you are correct. I was tracking them along with the other freshmen, but neither had any significant points so they didn't make the list. I think that one was named Erik Baskin....does that name ring a bell?

I've seen Baskin play a little bit in the recent past and can say that he's really talented. To me, he's got great size and scoring ability.
No, I'm not a relative/teammate
McCarver of NSP is also pretty good. Did he also go to the NTDP?

Nice work cchky, updating the list.
Where on the Star Trib's website are those stats kept? I looked last season, but the Trib seemed even further behind in updating than did the Pointstreak website, which is quite easy to use.

Calvin Miska will be a big addition to a much improved North Branch team.
