Legacy hockey fiction writers

Just curious who writes on the website for the legacy. It appears they have a bright future working for the Onion or maybe a fiction series. The information in this post was not even close.

http://www.minnesotalegacyhockey.com/pa ... 68562-1999

In reality shots were about 28 to 25 in their win against the 99 Monopoly team, that went to ths tournament. That team consisted of open 00, open 99, and some invite 99 players. The second game of the following day was a one goal game, in favor of the legacy, against Monopoly's 00' team. They did indeed beat the monopoly 99open/invite group in the championship by a score of 2 to 1. I guess facts should never get in the way of a good story!

I will alert the editors at The Hockey News to make sure such fiction does not make it to the printed page. Nice catch.

SD Guy,

How many people would have ever seen the article but for you putting up a link? Feel better now?

I agree with your take on their literary talent. The image of 10 year olds salivating to avenge a loss... whew... heady stuff.

SD Guy, is the extra "e" for EDIT?

Just when HD41 decided to amuse us during the dog days of this long, cold, summer, you post to correct the shots from a '99 game in a tournament that no one ever heard of...from a teams website...and post excuses about how many "open" kids played...

Watch it, the Board may take away your moniker for focusing on game results and not "developement" for 9 and 10 year olds.

Good points Play4fun and Sk8 Str8.

I did overreact. I found it humorous though the way Legacy took a competitive tournament and made it sound like they were the dominant team.

That humor must have been a "you have to be there" sort of deal because it doesn't seem as humorous now that I've made a big deal about it over here.

Since I work at Competitive Edge here and there, I follow the Monopoly program pretty close and their writings were grossly off, thats all.

The reason I posted the "excuses" though is once again to demonstrate their innacuracy. This was a throw together tournament for the Monopoly so they first asked their invite team if they wanted to do this. After that they filled about half the team with players from the 99 Open and (I've found out) only one player from the 00 Open. They made sure to call the team the 99 Monopoly Invite.

With all of that said, yeah, this probably doesn't warrant a thread.

Sorry.

They should be proud winning their championship no matter how they won it or who they beat, it's probably their first of the season and they should enjoy it. Sounds like a competitive tournament which makes for some good hockey to watch. After seeing quite a bit of '99 games the '99 Legacy are not near the upper tier of '99 teams. They are a solid team and a border line invite team depending on the tournament.
