Yep...count on it...there are a few out there considering it and are capable of doing it....

Furthermore, you don't need to own a rink to think outside of the box and use ice time correctly. The cost of $10/hour per skater, with 40 on the ice leaves plenty of money left over to be profitable.

It would be a good idea for coaches and associations to realize they are way behind the times when using ice time. Solo practices are a huge waste of ice time, and has a direct effect on individual skill development.

You could probably get Lily Lake arena for $400. If you have to pay $450 you got hosed.

Hip-I don't necessarily agree with your assessment that single team practices are a waste of time. I say this because I've been part of associations that ONLY use shared ice slots and the result is a team that cannot carry the puck through the neutral zone and one that can't get up and down the ice because frankly they never do it.

One of the Ramsey County rinks could be had for a sond and dance. I don't even know if they had ice in Harding last year. If Pleasent Arena can be 90% St Paul figure skating club I am sure Ramsey County could accomodate a Hockey Clubs needs.

You can never type enough in these posted...I don't believe 100% of the time has to be shared ice, there are times in which you need to use the whole sheet. Having said that, there are still things that can be done with shared ice that will allow for the challenges that you are stating...An example is to share the ice lengthwise, not widthwise...Creativity is probably one of the most critical attributes a coach MUST have...
