Yet another D1 committment from this years senior class

David Grun of White Bear Lake committed to the University of Minnesota-Duluth to play for the Bulldogs. I'm not sure if hes planning on playing a year in the USHL which is damn near a must to go to the WCHA now, but he is headed there. Think this will be a good fit for Grun or could he have gone somewhere better like a top 3 or 4 WCHA team? (even though Duluth might be there in 2 years with the massive talent they have in their young players)

UMD is a well respected team, however, as a loyal Gopher fan I was hoping to see Grun go there.
Best of luck to him.

Doesn't look the Gophers were even recruiting him these days. The Star Trib said earlier today in its preview that Wisconsin, Minnesota Duluth, MSU, Mankato and St. Cloud State were the schools recruiting him. I would guess the Gophers have their sights on better players.

I am glad to see this player get his D1 commitment out of the way. Now he can just focus on playing well this season and making his case for Mr. Hockey. I have had the chance to watch Grun last year and this fall in the Elite League where he put up 29 points. He seems to always be working hard.

I cant imagine anyone questioning this kids toughness! From what I saw the other night he was a force on the ice! I just see this kid as a complete player.... He's got the size, the speed, and the shot to play the game at a very high level!

-The Slinger

From the little bit I remember of him from last season seeing him a few times, I think he will be a good fit on the small rink at the DECC. And, yes, I believe UMD will be back in the top half of the WCHA within a year or two. Congrats to him
