Is there any truth to the rumor there are players who did not even participate at the Section tyouts but who were placed on final Section teams for the Advance 16 Spring Festival?

They are trying our the NTDP team this weekend - from what I understand, the 11 players trying out have spots on Advance 16'sFinal 54.

I am not referrring to the players in Ann Arbor; they are a given. I am talking about the hypothetical player who does not skate in section tryouts and makes it. How does this happen? Does the player's coach go to the tryout coordinator and say, "you must take this player. He is so good, he does not have to tryout." Seems very curious.

I have not heard of anybody at the 16's this year (though I might be out of the loop). Did hear at the 17's that Marshall got an automatic spot on the section team with out trying out, as he was injuryed in the state tournament. I don't know if he is skating this weekend at the spring festival.

I believe Max Gaede (woodbury) is not skating this weekend (appendix) but will be skating at the 54's.

Any results from the games yesterday?

Any guesses (by section) on who makes the final 54. Assuming they will take on average (some less some more) 3 forwards and 1-2 D and 0-1 goalies from each section team...

I don't know if that is true, but it should not matter what class you play. Nor should it matter which section you are from or which school you played for. It should be based a talent alone.

I saw some very good teams this weekend, some with a lot of depth. I also saw some very bad teams with maybe "1" player total that should move on to the final 54. Lets hope they are not going to water down the next round with a formulas, ratios, percentages and political correctness in which they try to be "fair" and including players "equally" from each team, like they did in the select 15's last year.
