There seems to be alot of training clinics. Which ones are the most cost effective

Which ones really push the kids?

Suggestions?

There are a few ways to look at - level, goals for training and cost - here are a few programs in the Metro:

CODP - this is a very good program that really pushes the players - it has been the standard but now there are a few options that have split the girls into multiple programs not just CODP - you have to try out for it - Ice and Dryland two sessions per week plus a scrimmage - June and July. Cost $900.

OS - this is also a very good program that was formed off of CODP but has evolved and there are some differences - you try out to be placed at right level - runs May-August Ice and Dryland Winny Brodt and Ronda Curtain started program and still involved - instructors are mostly all woman who played D1 hockey - many are involved in HS coaching so great level of instruction. Cost $650

FHIT - this is a 6 month program March through October you have to try out for and be accepted it is self paced - you can do as much as you want and it offers lots of flexibility working with coaches who are mostly former D1 players. Looks to be very good on developing skills and strength - it has become the standard on the boys side and this is the first summer with a girls program though some girls have been in the program with the boys. They also offer some other things regarding schools and mental training. Not Cheap! Cost $1890

HS STP - Depending on where you are there are many great STP programs some are great and pushing the girls and developing strength and speed - these generally have a range of talent on the ice which can be great if your daughter is younger as they can learn from the Upper Class Players. The WHC at Tartan and HM is a great summer program in June and July with Ice and Dryland. Cost is only $450

Total hockey also puts on excellent offseason training, my two daughters and neice go to the one in Eagan and have nothing but good things to say about it. I also have freinds, whose daughter was accepted into Fhit and they swear it is by far the best training out there for a player that is highly motivated (their daughter is) but isn't cut out for the casual player.

Spring Training Details:
• Dates: April 4th – June 7th, 2009 Generally….
o Saturday’s & Sundays
o Tuesday & Thursdays on holiday/special weeks
• Location: Andover Community Center (2 dates at Fogerty Ice Arena)
• 20 players minimum up to maximum of 30 skaters and 4 goalies
• 21 hours on-ice, 13 hours off-ice
• Fee: $350 per participant
Summer Development Details:
• Dates: June 16th – July 30th, 2009
o Tuesday & Thursdays
o Taking off week of 4th of July
o Taking off week of Freshman/Sophomore Development Camp (July 6th – 10th)
• Location: Andover Community Center
• 20 players minimum up to maximum of 30 skaters and 4 goalies
• 15 hours on-ice, 7.5 hours off-ice
• Fee: $250 per participant (- $20 jersey for those also doing Spring Training)

The Carroll Goalie School is a well-run, reasonably priced goalie school for girls of all ages and abilities. The are also the only goalie school that runs a girls high school pre-season session in the fall.
All ice time is at night and weekends at Richfield, Burnsville, and Schwan SuperRink in Blaine. Great coaches, now in its 15th season.
