Would like to get some info/input on the Bantam A Maroon and gold/ Super League.

I've heard a little bit from parents on the WBL and Cent. Teams...its a bantam A league that includes shattuck WBL Cent Edina E.P. Way and I yhink some others. Not much info on this out there. A sort of elite group.

It is run by coaches is what I heard.

The coaches all schedules games with the group and they track their records and declare a winner.
It is similar to VFW districts in that it exists and means something to the members of the group.

Some people wanted to put a top to it, some did not care.
No harm, no foul is my opinion.

If others want to do something similar they should. Such as follow conference or section grouping.
Whatever can be done to make things more fun and exciting is good for hockey.

I agree with Elliot. This is some very proactive coaches setting up their non-district games/"scrimmages" ahead of time with a group of teams they want to make sure they play during the year. Anyone can do it. Worked out great for teams like Rochester and Duluth to make sure they can play a number of games with the metro.

I have been to a few of these games and it is intense. I am not really sure other teams are ready to make the commitment these teams have made. They play three 17min stop periods, have Timeouts and overtimes. It takes up a good two hours of Ice. I believe they play a home and home with each team, including Duluth East and Rochester.

It looks to me like these programs are doing what it takes to keep their good players at the youth level and not moving on to HS. By setting up challenging games under HS game conditions it really gives no reason for a player to bolt to HS to play on the JV or third line. I have been really impressed with this over the last couple of years and would like to see more teams, districts, associations in general push for the longer games at the Bantam A level.

The only thing they cannot do is play tag-up.

D16 plays 17 minute stop for all eewees and bantams with TO & OT.
We almost always complete in 1 1/2 hours with one resurface.

D16 & some D15 teams are combined for VFW so that created a similar experience.

But, yes, encourage assn / coaches to find a group of similar quality teams.

This is a great idea and should be done at the Pee Wee A level!!

sounds like a great idea, this might squash some of this winter AAA talk, more games against simular compition, sounds like good for PeeweeA's as well...do they still play tourny schedule (invitaionals)?
