Anybody know why they have to play this game at the Hippodrome. Why cant they play someplace different on the range each year?

My understanding is that it is rotated? I know the game has been in Grand Rapids, Greenway, and Eveleth. I think they go on 3 year cycles.

Its been at Eveleth and Duluth for the past - well, at least five years in a row, maybe more now. It really should be moved in my opinion. The turnout is pretty low at the Hippodrome. The event is very poorly promoted on the Iron Range. If you didn't go looking for it, you wouldn't even know it was taking place.

I think it would do much better in Virginia or Hibbing where there seems to be a much bigger hockey following than Eveleth. Virginia is a good central location and probably a better sized arena for the event. Hibbing might be a little large which would give it that empty feeling that already exists in Eveleth.

I know garrett hendrickson is only a sophomore but i think he should be playing in this game. Hopefully the range can keep it a closer game this year :|

Vechell Getting in instead of Wagner is an outrage. how does a kid who hasnt played half of the games this year get into the CCM all-star game?

Same as last year. If memory serves, he didn't have a great season and was injured for a majority of it and still got in.

Here is what i know. The coaches vote on the players, so they must know something we dont. The game is ONLY open to Jrs/Srs. So no sophomores or freshman can participate.

Let's all keep in mind when talking about who made it and who didnt for this event, great 8 etc, that these are KIDS! I dont think we should make personal statements about the individual kids. Go ahead and say Player A should have made it, but dont say Player B should not have...thats just not right or fair.

he didn't even play last year! he was out all year with an ACL ( i think? ) injury and he came back for playoffs but he still made the all star game

This is an outrage. The kid isn't in even a top 4 d on his team let alone a top 5 d in all the northland. I'm disgusted with this decision and feel sorry for Wagner because he's having a fine season. Talk about getting this as a gift. Vechell doesn't deserve this.

With all due respect to the underclassmen D from Denfeld and Duluth Central...they're not as good as Alex McLean of DE...he should be playing in this game...plain and simple.

6 kids from I. Falls seems a little over the top to me. I have to believe there is more in the mix from other range teams.

The Hounds staff doesn't believe in recommending Jr.'s for this stuff is my understanding. I have to admit I agree. This should be a senior "showcase" event and Jr.'s should be left off all together IMO.

I also think Al McLean should be on this roster. He is a quality defenseman and he is overshadowed by the three studs that are in front of him on that Hounds team this year. I have to disagree with Taylor, he is a quality player and would be on the top set of any other team in Duluth if not the area. I am however biased as a fan of the team. Unfortunately there are only so many spots so it is what it is.

No offense, but isnt that what the GREAT 8 is for? Good God man...nobody wants to see a Sr. Classic. It's an ALL-STAR GAME which part of that dont you get?

Duluth won the game 6-3 with an empty netter. I Didn't make it to the skills part. As usual, a very poor turn out attendance-wise at the Hippodrome.

agreed with Puck Ranger...Very Poor Attendance at the Hippodrome...It needs to be in a place like Grand Rapids or Hibbing. Jamnick's Goal in the 3rd Period was a Sick Snipe...and whoever made the Jersey's needs to Learn how to spell...His Name is JAMNICK..Not JAMNIK.
