Congrats to Mahtomedi on what I believe is their first trip to state? As a #6 seed and entering sections with 5 wins on the year they beat 3 higher seeded teams in sections to advance to state. Best of luck to Mahtomedi at state and congrats! =)

This is a young team that got better and better as the season went on - they play good fundamental team hockey 5 attacking and 5 defending. Neat to see their success and the opportunity that they have achieved. This accomplishment is the example of "it only takes three wins to get to State"

The path Mahtomedi chose to get to the big rink in St. Paul is the one less traveled. Did it make for an interesting season? You bet! Was it easy on players, coaches, parents, and fans? No. But it was the path that got better a the season went on. With only 1 win by Christmas and 3 losses in the Schwan Cup, it would of been easy to pack it in. This was a group players that held together and learned how to win. The six 1 goal losses and 3 OT losses were very close to having a breakout year. And with any group of young people, the unexpected is possible. As with any sport, you want to be playing the best when playoffs start and that is exactly what happened. It is great that the games are deciced on the ice rather than on paper.
Good luck to all teams it the tournament this week. The memories will last longer than the score will.

Absouletly floored by this team. I've been watching this team for
the past 3 years. All I can say is OUTSTANDING! Good for them.
It's a big accomplishment to get to the Tourney, no matter what
your record is. Congrats!!!

Looks like the Mahtomedi boys squad pulled off an equally impressive run to get to state!
