Thoughts, predictions, trash talk.
Anyone going to record this game? Also, looking for someone with an mp3 recorder or tape recorder to record the GRHS pep band.

Underwood has been playing well lately, and I think he'll continue it into the section tournament.

There is no way Cloquet will win. They have only won five games all season! Rapids beat them 4-1 in the later meeting of the teams, and this time it won't be different.

Cloquet has nothing to lose and will play Rapids very tough. I'm gonna say Skrbec wins it for Rapids though in OT, 3-2.

Bet it's an ugly game. I'll be waiting to see what the penalties total - two middle-of-the-road teams trying to make each other look bad.
Hmmm...

This game has the potential to be a thriller for fans from both rapids and cloquet. Betting that CEC will be bringing a fairly large fan base, will make for an awesome atmosphere at the IRA tuesday night.
>thoughts on game. Beleive that GR will be coming into this game hott, not to say CEC will being doing the same, but rapids will end out coming out on top with this one hands down witha great performance from Underwood.

If Cloquet can shut down Rendle and Skrbec they will be successful, I also like what I've seen in Thompson the past few games. Im taking Cloquet-2 Rapids-1, I'll say Jack McFarlane gets the GWG in OT, I also see Colton Roy having a good game, as long as Cloquets D-men can hold there own they have a chance for the upset. If Rendle plays to his full potential tomorrow night though see ya hockey hello golf for Cloquet. I'd also like to say this is a classic quarterfinal matchup. I don't think you'll see a Cloquet-Rapids quarterfinal matchup for awhile after this one. Cloquet will be back next year.

Two very accurate statements.
I'll add another..."If Underwood plays like he has of late, Cloquet will be hard pressed to get more than a single goal. "
My take:
GR 3-1 [EN]

I'd have to take a closer look at boxscores, but I think Rapids only scores that much against Eveleth and Greenway

4-2 Rapids on an empty net. Rapids is not a goal scoring team but needs to crank up the forecheck and avoid those defensive breakdowns. Underwood is gonna have to be solid from here on out!

More to GR than just Skrbec and Rendle. Obviously they're two top players, but Rapids has many key guys they will need to rely on to be successful. Defensively, Dick, Leingang,Roy and Merritt will have to play solid. Up front, expect contributions from How, Moore, Schulte, Anderson, and Perron among others. GR is not a two man team. They're not talented enough to win with just two guys. No team is. GR will only go as far as their
team takes them. If one or two guys get shut down, then others need to step up and know they are capable.

Defensive breakdowns would be easy to avoid if the D-core, with
maybe the exception of Rendle, played D. GR has a lot of offensive defensmen and they will need to stay home more to avoid all those odd man rushes...
Should be a fun game at the IRA. Great atmosphere with a packed out house.

Grand Rapids should win this one by 3 or so.
If they give Cloquet life early, though, this one could go badly. Over the past few years, Cloquet has been very good at taking advantage of its opportunities when they smell blood. If it's close late, I think Cloquet will pull it off.

Rapids shoud win but I can see this one going the jacks way. They bring it in the playoffs. But then again the jacks don't have an explosive scorer. Jack McFarlane is by far their top scoring threat. Nobody on their roster has more than 20 points.
I'll say
Rapids- 6
Jacks- 3

Nobody on their roster has more than 14 pts. McFarlane was listed as their leading scorer with 12g 2 assists
