Really? I have nothing against Anders Lee, he's definitely a great player but I think it's hard to ignore what Ben Hanowski (sp?) has done over his career, although it may be hard to compare the two players.gophermadman wrote:to be honest, I just dont see Anders Lee losing this one
just look at his career, its one VERY impressive resume...
Weak conference or not and who cares, Big Ben wraps it up because he is the BEST HOCKEY PLAYER in the state of Minnesotadeacon wrote:Really? It all depends on how many times Kevin Gorg gets to vote for Anders Lee.WendyClark wrote:Weak conference or not and who cares, Big Ben wraps it up because he is the BEST HOCKEY PLAYER in the state of Minnesotadeacon wrote:Really? Lee might not be the best player ON HIS LINE!gophermadman wrote:to be honest, I just dont see Anders Lee losing this one

Zamman wrote:Lee will not get it because he is not the "total" player. How much defense does he play and how much is his presence on the ice know. Edina has a lot of talented players.
Hanowski has a ton of points but I do not know anything else about him, but that alone may gather the votes.
I am guessing it will come down to Leddy and Mattson. I am saying Mattson, he has to be the best stick handler in the state and does not score a lot og goals, but is more an assist guy. He makes the team around him better. You can put any two guys on his line and they look great.
This award is not about the best scorer, player or who gets their name said by Me. Non-Know-it-all Gorg. I know a couple of years ago, hands down the best player in the state did not win. He won Metro player of the year, scoring leader and it still did not matter.
Anyway, Congratulations to all the finalists. We write on these boards because we love to watch them play the game.
Its great, the best time of the year.Son of March wrote:Hanowski

(my pick to win is Hanowski. All the hype that will follow the record will have a sentimental effect even on the scouts - ala John Pohl (drafted in the 6th???) and Hanowski will go much higher. I saw him split 2 D (one being future gopher Nate Schmidt and score - had Schmidt slamming his stick on the ice) He's the right pick....just wish he'd be wearing Maroon and Gold for the next few years.
How fun is this to have all this talent spread throughout the state!
your right, your 100% right. However, Mr. Hockey has a huge political aspect to it. First off, your school has allot to do with it. Notice how many private schools kids have won? ONE and thats because there was no way to deny Ryan should be Mr. Hockey. Remember 06? How did Barribal not win? Well its politics, and David Fischer and his partner Medvec dismantled that highly touted AHA team that year. Because of one good game within a string of inconsistency, Fischer got it.WayOutWest wrote:Lee might not be the best player ON HIS LINE!gophermadman wrote:to be honest, I just dont see Anders Lee losing this one

Everson is a better player, "impressive resume" or not.
