duluth, i dont think winning your own tournament where you basically gave yourself a cake walk to the championship gives you much credit. the centenial win was a little bit impressive but they have been struggling recently. i just think you need some more long term success...

Cake walk? Wayzata, Centennial, Blaine. All wins by three or more. And one extra game from the dropouts

Wayzata is mediocre but have a few kids that can really play. Blaine just has a bunch of goons that run around trying to make the big hit. Beating Centennial 7-1 is pretty impressive, but tonkagoalie is right, they have been struggling greatly as of recently. Hope Duluth can keep it up I guess.

Haha what more do we need to do to gain some respect we beat the teams you had ranked 4 and like 7 but thats still not good enought, Wessy's boys goes 0-1-2 and is ranked, and who did minnetonka play can i ask?

Those aren't my rankings, but whatever. You should be ranked ahead of Wessy's Boys, they aren't very good at all. Duluth won this tournament, but they don't have the longstanding sucess so far. They need to keep it up down the stress. Minnetonka has proved they can skate with the best in the state, they beat Edina 2 weeks ago. That counts for something.

I don't know and don't really care. What I am trying to say is one weekend means very little in the span of a whole season.

Alright.

New Top 10 ratings for week of 2/9

by wildthing
1) Edina- beat EP by one goal recently
2) WBL- Tied EP
3) EP- after fast start, competition has caught up
4) MTKA- steady play all season long
5) Duluth- won home town tourney
6) Jefferson- are they for real with win over EP?
7) Burnsville- improving all season long
8) Centennial- lost to several un-ranked teams
9) Wessy's Boys
10) Wayzata

The last 5 on this list are quite equal and one could argue are in a virtual 5 way tie for 6th place...

wayzata eeeh ok but from what i watched they were taking it to you at the beginning of the game. centennial has been losing to everyone and although i havent seen blaine play there scores havent impressed many and that shoe in game was either vs cumberland,WI or east grand forks, regardless both of those teams were terrible

I thought your first rankings were much more accurate, and I think Duluth should be in the picture..but to put EP 3rd and WBL above them...that is saying a bit much from a tie. I also think Wayzata should receive maybe a little more recognition. Other than that... good job. Mine would be...
1. Edina
2. EP
3. Tonka
4. Centennial..I still think they are good
5. WBL
6. Jefferson..a few impressive games..lets see what they do
7. Wayzata
8. Duluth..just for now..if they keep winning they will go up
9. Burnsville..they have been playing well..but the goalie is whats keeping them in it
10. who knows..i would say blaine..but they lost to hopkins..maybe wessy's or eagan or even stillwater

A few switches could be made. I feel like anyone can beat anyone on any given day..right now i pick Edina to win it all

Toptitty,
I cant argue with your rankings, it looks like on any given night, games among the top 10 teams are up for grabs.
My EP scout tells me EP had to come back hard in the final minutes from a 2 goal defecit to get the tie. I saw WBL 2 weeks ago and they skated hard.
The one tweak I would suggest is flip WBL/Cent.l based on play in the last 6 games.

I would say

1. Edina--Can't argue with their play. Maybe a little inconsistent in some departments, but regardless still the team to beat.

2. EP--Despite recent struggles they are still my number 2. I think they have a ton of good players but their problem is teamwork and their attitude. Seems like they only make excuses and cannot admit a defeat. They need to learn to always play hard and not be so cocky.

3. WBL--A tie vs. EP is good for number 3. I have seen this team play and they are good. They are very fast and seem to always have a guy open somewhere on the ice. They take a lot of shots from the high slot and crash the net hard. Good to see. They have some goons but if they stay out of penalty trouble they are for real.

4. Tonka--Decent team all around. Very good at pounding home rebounds and in close around the net. They have one very good goalie, and one mediocre but both seem to keep them in a lot of games, so give them credit.

5. Jefferson-- Very good top line with a good 2nd line too. A few good D with #17(?) being the best. They use the point very well and cause chaos around the net which results in many goals.

6. Centennial--Haven't seen them but sounds like they play when they want to and are capable of good things, but a few big losses recently have me questioning their ability.

That's all I got. No point in ranking the rest, for now at least.

Bardown:

Rankings are not bad, but Tonka has beaten WBL both games this year so

you might want to consider them above WBL.

However, the comments on Tonka goalies are not accurate. The mediocre

goalie is 13-3 with a 2.45 gaa and save % above 90%. He has beaten

several top teams including Wessy's, Burnsville (2x), and White Bear

Lake.

And no I'm not the goalie....

Agreed with Bardown other than Jefferson at #5. I think that's a bit high for them.

bardown, i think i have agreed with everything you have ever said except here. no shot WBL is ahead of Tonka. we beat them both times we have faced them. and if their tie against EP (#2) is good for number three then whats our win vs Edina (#1) good for? number four? your logic there just doesnt make sense. and thanks blueblood, whoever you are, for standing up for our "mediocore" goalie. he has won some huge games this year. and no im not that goalie either...

I think EP is the team to beat still regardless of their recent play. They have by far the most talent on any team. They just need to check their attitude at the door and play team hockey. We will see if they can pull it together.

But, I must say now that Centennial is no longer even considered in my rankings. They lost 7-1 tonight to Edina.

Bardown, you reviews of the league are well thought out...
With Edina dominating both Jefferson & Cent., along with a win over EP last week, they are clearly the top team in this league right now.
EP, WBL, and Tonka have the potential to upset with hard work.

I don't think the game between Jefferson and Edina and Cent. and Edina can be put in the same category. The Jefferson game was tight, 2-1 going into the third. Edina put one away early and got an empty net..i wouldn't call that domination, especially compared to a 7-1 beatdown. I dont think Jefferson is as good as them, but i just wanted to point out that Edina is not yet completely dominant. I still think they are tops in the league though. EP is definately a close second..I like WBL also

what do you think shots were in the Edina/Jefferson game? The difference was Jefferson took a lot of penalties. Edina did dominate the second period, Jefferson could not get it out of their own zone.
